List of Successful Tenderers for 2-Digit Special Numbers

​The list of successful tenderers for the Closed Tender of Vehicle Registration Number, VRN for the 2-digit Special Numbers will be announced on the Department of Land Transport’s official website.

 

The Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications in its media release informed that successful bidders are required to collect their Award Letter from Monday, 28th November 2022 at LTD Headquarters.

Labour Force Survey 2022

​The Labour Force Survey, LFS 2022 conducted by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistic, Ministry of Finance and Economy has started on 14th of November. The survey will be conducted for four weeks and will end on 11th of December.

 

Results from the LFS 2022 will provide an important source of information for evidence-based decision making, planning and policy formulation for socio-economic and research purposes. 3,200 selected families selected for Labour Force Survey 2022 have been notified through a letter of notification.

 

During the survey, the heads and household members are being interviewed face-to-face by the appointed survey officers. Selected households are reminded to ensure that the interviewers visiting their premises are those appointed by using their survey pass, appointment letter and identity card as well as JPES official vest.

Customs Operation

​Three individuals were detained for the offence of possessing various types of contraband during three separate operations carried out by the Law Enforcement Division, Royal Customs and Excise Department, currently.

 

In first operation carried out at the Kampung Rimba National Housing Scheme, a local man aged 61 was detained for possessing 9 cartons of cigarettes and 71 packets of cigarettes. Also seized, cash amounting to $224.95, believed to be proceeds from the sale of contraband.

 

Meanwhile, in another operation at the Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati Mumong, Kuala Belait, two male permanent residents aged 17 and 50 were detained for the offence of possessing 19 packets of cigarettes and a vape unit.

 

In the third operation conducted at Kampung Sungai Bunga and Kampung Sungai Besar, 1,350 cartons cigarettes and 20 cans of alcoholic drinks and a fibre-glass boat with its engine were seized. The individuals involved were brought to the Law Enforcement Office for further investigation.

Charity Sale

​UBD Corporation Sendirian Berhad in collaboration with the 20th Jiwaku Ikhlas, 26th November, held a Charity Sale at Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD.

 

The charity sale acted as a platform and opportunity for single mothers to engage in business. The event coincided with a donation presentation from the Jiwaku Ikhlas Project, Maju Motors Sendirian Berhad, Al-Huffaz Management to representatives of the Single Mother Movement Association and 20 single mother recipients.

‘Warisan Kitani’ Programme

In conjunction with the 17th National Youth Day celebration that carried the theme ‘Future Ready Youth’, a ‘Warisan Kitani’ programme was held on 26th November morning, organised by the Temburong District Youth and Sports Department in collaboration with the Kampong Senukoh Consultative Council.

 

Among others, the programme aimed to expand the scope of knowledge about history, culture, customs, language and religion to the youth apart from fostering the spirit of unity and cooperation. The programme started with a briefing on Kampung Senukoh and followed by a demonstration of Senukoh noodle processing, and a demonstration on penyaram and kelupis making.

Joint Cleaning Campaign

​A joint cleaning campaign held in Tutong Town was one of the initiatives and efforts of the Tutong District Office in maintaining cleanliness and public safety. The campaign was held on 26th November morning, at the Haji Abu Yusof Building, Irama Aman Building 1 and 2, Hajah Marianah DH Haji Abdul Wahab Building and Hajah Rafiah Building.

 

The campaign was led by Awang Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, Acting Tutong District Officer. The campaign was conducted by the Tutong District Office in collaboration with several government agencies, grassroots leaders, Mukim Pekan Tutong Consultative Council and businesses. In this regard, all parties are urged to jointly maintain cleanliness not only in public places but also in their respective homes.

Active Weather Condition Forecasted until Monday

​Brunei Darussalam is currently towards the end of Inter-Monsoon period. During the Inter-Monsoon period, the weather is generally fair in the morning. Showers and thunderstorms occur mainly over the inland during the afternoon, and propagate towards coastal and sea areas at night and at times prolonged to early morning of the following day.

 

Weather condition over Brunei Darussalam is forecasted to be active, started on 26th until Monday, 28th of November. This condition is due to the influence of low pressure areas over our region, which enhances the development of rain clouds and thus increases rainfall activity in the country. Wind speed may increase up to 40 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Meanwhile, over the Brunei Waters, sea state condition is at slight state of below 1 metre. Latest weather information can be obtained as stated on the screen.

10th Borneo History Lecture

​The 10th Series of the Borneo History Lecture Programme organised by the Borneo Study Centre, PenBorneo aimed to promote the centre as a source of historical reference and improve the development of historical reference materials’ collection. The programme was held physically and virtually on 26th November morning, at the Borneo Study Centre.

 

Present was Pengiran Haji Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Doctor Awang Haji Muhammad Hadi bin Muhammad Melayong, Principal of the Brunei History Centre in his premier paper discussed the importance of history as reference material, guidance, advice, teaching and even a tool that can motivate and give inspiration especially to youths who are actively involved in the national development agenda.

 

The talk was presented by three speakers from abroad, namely Datu Doctor Haji Sanib bin Haji Said, General Manager of Sarawak Malay Culture Foundation; Associate Professor Doctor Ismail Ali from Universiti Malaysia Sabah; and Associate Professor Doctor Abdul Razak bin Abdul Kadir from the Academy of Contemporary Islamic Studies, Sarawak Branch of Universiti Teknologi Mara. The Borneo History Lecture programme will continue next Monday at the same venue.

Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran

​The Kampung Telisai Mosque and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque emerged as champions in their respective categories at the 3rd Nationwide Musaqabah Tilawatil Quran Zainul Quran Group for Mosque, Surau and Religious Hall Youths and Adults. The prize presentation was held on 26th November afternoon, at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque, Kampung Rimba.

 

13 teams participated in the competition which among others, aimed to find young talents in preparation for becoming the next generation of Zainul Quran. Prizes was presented by Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Ihtifaal End Term Closing Ceremony

143 Kindergarten 3 pupils of Al-Falah School were feted at a Ihtifaal End Term Closing Ceremony 2022 and a Certificate Presentation Ceremony. The event took place on 26th November morning, at Al-Falaah School, Sungai Akar branch.

 

Certificates were presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development. The function also feted 49 Year 6 graduates and 13 pupils who won several competitions organised by several departments.

Youth Town Hall Brunei

​The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in collaboration with Young Professional Networks hosted the Youth Town Hall Brunei on 26th November afternoon, at the Prime Minister’s Office.

 

With the theme ‘Rising Up For National Development,’ the session gave youths the opportunity to converse with Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin  Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The event aimed to provide youth and young leaders with knowledge, tools and empowerment to contribute towards socio-economic growth of Brunei proactively, innovatively and dynamically.

Suri Seri Begawan Hospital Golden Jubilee Celebration

​The Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is highly attentive towards ensuring the welfare of the country’s citizens and residents through the provision of health facilities. This was stated by the Minister of Health while officiating the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital’s Golden Jubilee celebration in Kuala Belait, 26th November afternoon. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar also stressed that with healthy citizens and residents as well as thriving health services, the integrity, stability and resilient socio-economic development of the country can be achieved.

 

Yang Berhormat added that with cooperation from all parties and the facilities provided by His Majesty’s government, Brunei Darussalam has achieved the health goals stipulated by the World Health Organization. This includes several Millennium Development Goals, MDG that are related to health, and the Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 2030.

 

The event continued with the presentation of awards such as the Top 5 Blood Donors Award, Excellent Employee Award and the Long Service Award. Various programmes and activities have been lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration such as a Cancer Awareness Talk, Family Carnival Day, blood donation campaign and health screening.
