Song Noh Jati Li Danau Event

In conjunction with the 39th National Day Celebration, the Kampung Danau Consultative Council in Tutong District organised the 'Song Noh Jati Li Danau' event at Kampung Danau Sports arena, 5th March morning.

Present was Awang Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, Acting Tutong District Officer. Also held was 30-kilometres cycling event officiated by Acting Tutong District Officer and 3-kilometres walkathon along the Danau Beach. The 'Song Noh Jati Li Danau' is a Dusun Dialect that means Lets go to Danau.

World Hearing Day Celebration

One of the most important components in empowering primary care facilities to integrate ear and hearing care is to provide relevant skills through training as recommended by the World Health Organization. In this regard, the Ministry of Health through collaboration between the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Basic Health Services and Nursing Services is establishing the training programme curriculum of Aural care for nurses in the community, which is hoped will become a reality as a commitment to generate missions under the World Health Organization. The Minister of Health explained the matter in a message in conjunction with the World Hearing Day celebration 2023.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar further explained that in Brunei Darussalam, more than 60 percent of ear and hearing problems can be dealt with at the primary health care level. Statistics obtained between 2021 and 2022 from the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital show that a total of 1,980 patients with ear problems were referred from clinics or health centres to Otorhinolaryngology specialist clinics, with 4 problems that are often experienced by the patient is the problem of earwax, objects in the ear, ear infection and hearing loss.

According to the Minister of Health, prevention of hearing loss is important throughout life, starting from the development of the child in the womb until reaching the golden age. The majority of the causes of hearing loss can be prevented with effective implementation strategies such as immunization programmes, maternal and child health care programmes, early detection and treatment for ear problems. With the theme “Ear and hearing care for all! Let's make it a reality", it emphasizes the importance of integrating ear and hearing care into primary care.

Incentive Scheme Prize Presentation

Al-Quran literacy effort is not solely on the part of the Department of Islamic Studies and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, but parents also play an important role in providing early exposure to the reading of Al-Quran to their children. The Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs highlighted the matter at the Prize Presentation Ceremony of the under 10 Khatam Al-Quran Incentive Scheme for Religious and Arabic Schools at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha's Girls Secondary Arabic Religious School, Kampong Katok. Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan said that with solid cooperation from all parties, success can be achieved.

The Deputy Minister also said that we must always strive to ponder over the meaning of the verses of the Qur'an and making them a practice.

Some One Hundred 68 pupils have registered in the preliminary round. The Under-10 Khatam Al-Quran Incentive Scheme is a boost for students to learn Al-Quran from an early age. The ceremony organised by the Department of Islamic Studies through the Curriculum Division was held for the 31st time.

Courtesy Visit

Several issues of mutual concern were touched upon during the courtesy visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkiye to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Professor Doctor Hamit Ersoy to Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council. During the visit, the Speaker of the Legislative Council also expressed his sympathy and condolences following the recent earthquake disaster in Turkiye.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council in his statement also confident that the Turkish people will be able to overcome the difficult situation with patience and perseverance. In the meantime, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkiye to the country also expressed his gratitude for the sympathy expressed by citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam and for the prayers offered for the victims involved in the disaster. Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of Turkiye have a close cooperation relationship in various fields, especially trade, tourism, education, culture, sports and security.

The Speaker of the Legislative Council also received a courtesy visit from the Canadian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Her Excellency Ambra Dickie. During the visit, the two sides also exchanged views on a number of matters related to the development of the country, as well as hoping that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop and can be further strengthened through cooperation in existing and future fields. Also present was Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Judin bin Haji Asar, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers' Council and Clerk to the Legislative Council.

The Royal Wedding Ceremonial Events witnessed by Diplomats

‘Raikan Cinta Mempelai Diraja’ Wins 3rd Place

The song titled 'Raikan Cinta Mempelai Diraja' composed by Haji Awang Mohd Noor Fadhlullah bin Haji Awang Md Yusof, won third place in the Royal Wedding Song Writing Competition in conjunction with the Royal Wedding Ceremony organized by Radio Television Brunei. Haji Awang Mohd Noor Fadhlullah, a teacher at the Pengiran Bandahara Lama Religious School, participated in the contest with encouragement and support from his wife and friends.

The song composing process was assisted by his wife, Dayang Helwa binti Haji Imran who is also the lyric writer of 'Raikan Cinta Mempelai Diraja'. In making the song, Haji Awang Mohd Noor Fadhlullah did a lot of research to create a quality song.

After receiving support from his wife, Awang Mohd Noor Fadhlullah took courage in singing his own song.

Royal Wedding Song ‘Kirana Pengantin Diraja

A song titled ' Kirana Pengantin Diraja' emerged champion in the Song Composition and Production Contest in conjunction with the Royal Wedding Ceremony organised by Radio Television Brunei, RTB. The song was composed by Muhammad Shahminan bin Mohd Yunos.

According to Muhammad Shahminan, the process of composing the song with other partners was slightly challenging due to the short time and communication with group members was only through 'Whatsapp' application. The group managed to compose a song showcasing the atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm in celebrating the Royal Wedding Ceremony.

He added that the song acts as the citizens' contribution to further enliven the Royal Wedding and it is also a way for them to express the beauty and joy of celebrating the Royal Wedding.

‘Simply Sayang’ Wedding Festival

 

In order to facilitate couples who wish to start a family to prepare for the wedding ceremony, Simply Sayang Event Management is now organising a ‘Simply Sayang Wedding Festival 2023’. The festival is held from 6th January until 8th January, Sunday, at Dewan Serambi Suluh, Tarindak D’Seni, Bandar Seri Begawan.

 

Participated by 26 entrepreneurs, such a festival provides opportunities for future brides and grooms to choose wedding consultant services such as bridal clothing and accessories, decoration of wedding gifts, catering and many more. The festival is open to the public from 10 in the morning to 10 in the evening.

Poetry Declamation Competition

Dayang Siti Azizah binti Haji Nurdin with her poem titled, “Katani Warga Emas” won the Poetry Declamation Competition held yesterday morning. With the theme” Sayangi Warga Emas” or Love the Senior Citizens, the competition which was organised by the Brunei Darussalam WARGAMAS Association took place at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

 

Present was Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs who also delivered two special poems titled ” Meniti ke Hujung Usia” and ” Dengan Munajat Ini”.

 

Joined by ten senior citizens, the competition aimed to highlight the talent of members of the Association in poetry declamation aside from fostering interest on Malay Language and Literature. Prizes were presented by the Minister of Religious Affairs. Second place was won by Awang Haji Mohd Hussin bin Haji Mohd Salleh with his poem titled “Ya Warga Emas” and Awang Haji Nor Amin bin Mohd Yassin with his poem “Janji Kita”, came in third.

Local Digital Arts

Painting is a work of art that has high value. However, along with the development of today’s technology, panting can be digitized using equipment such as a ‘tablet’ or ‘drawing pad’.

 

Awang Muhammad Khairul bin Haji Kamis, a local digital painting artist in an interview, explained that he started with traditional painting in 2000 before switching to digital painting. According to him, being involved in the art of painting requires a very high level of attention.

 

Although the majority of customers are satisfied with the quality of the illustrations and digital art results provided, Awang Muhammad Khairul also faced several challenges during the process of publishing the illustrations.

 

Despite the challenge, Awang Muhammad Khairul also hopes to become a more efficient, fast and organized painter in the future.

Art Exhibition

Under the ‘Pause & Rewind’ programme, Creative Space organises a solo art exhibition by Awang bin Sitai, ‘Ardent Expressions’. The exhibition is open to the public until the 5th of February 2023 at the Creative Space gallery in Kampung Sengkurong.

 

Awang bin Sitai is a pioneer who established the Brunei Artists Association and has participated in several art exhibitions abroad. Over one hundred sketches and paintings produced over five decades of his artistic journey are showcased at the exhibition. Pause & Rewind series is a platform for establish senior artists to share their works that could be of interest to art enthusiasts, art historian and researcher, cultural practitioner, collectors and local artists as well as young artist generation.
