The Social Kitchen Programme

As a support and appreciation for the frontliners sacrifices in controlling COVID-19 infection in the country, the Society For Community Outreach And Training, SCOT, continue to organise the Social Kitchen Programme which provides food packs for frontliners. First implemented last year when the country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and following the encouraging response from the public, the program continues to be implemented.

 

The Social Kitchen Programme acts as the SCOT’s initiative in providing opportunity to the public to mutually contribute and appreciate the frontliners. According to DAYang Amal Nisyyah Binti Haji Abdul Mulok, the SCOT Member, the donation can be made through BIBD application, or through the Community For Brunei’s website at ‘www.communityforbrunei.com’ OR via Bank Transfer to SCOT BIBD account.

The provision of food packs is held at the Crust and Crumbs Foodstore, located in Jalan Utama Berakas by following the guidelines advised by the Ministry of Health. The food packs are prepared by SCOT members and assisted by single mothers.

 

Awang Abdul Azim Bin Haji Zulkifli, the SCOT Member said that as for the delivery of food packs, SCOT members in cooperation with youth volunteers will distribute the food packs to frontliners at the health and swabs centres in the country.

Signing of the ‘Headstart Program’

The ‘Headstart Program’ aims to develop industry ready graduates who will be fully equipped to perform in the workplace. A virtual signing ceremony was held yesterday morning for the ‘Headstart Program’ between Dynamik Technologies and Universiti Brunei Darussalam for two students from the first batch. They will undergo in-service training whilst studying for their degree.

 

The signing was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as Deputy Chairman of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Council. Signing on behalf of Dynamik Technologies were Dayang Haslina binti Haji Mohd Taib, Chief Executive Officer and Dayang Hajah Siti Rozana binti Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Head of Corporate Services. Meanwhile, UBD was represented by Datin Doctor Hajah Anita Binurul Zahrina binti Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Wijaya Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, Vice-Chancellor of UBD and Pengiran Doctor Mohamad Iskandar bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Assistant Vice Chancellor.

Intiqam Film Premiere

A group of youth’s dream of producing a dakwah film finally came true when their film ‘Intiqam’ premiered in Seria, 5th August night.

 

150 people including local artists watched the film screening at the Grandstand Cinema in Seria. Produced by Marhain Entertainment, the film screening for the public will take place at the end of August, and the date will be announced via social media. According to the film’s producer, Intiqam is filled with life lessons based on Islam that are inculcated in the society’s daily life.

Photography Exhibition

One hundred photographs of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam featuring special and precious memories during the Get-Together Ceremony with the citizens are now displayed at the KB Sentral Building in Kuala Belait.

 

The exhibition organized by the Department of Information, Prime Minister’s Office is held for three days, starting on 5th August. Such an exhibition is to disseminate to the public about our beloved monarch. The public are welcome to view the exhibition which is open from 11 in the morning until 9 in the evening. The exhibition will be held in Tutong District from the 9th to 11th of August and Temburong District from the 13th to 15th of August.

Nasyid and Dakwah Song Competition

In conjunction with the 75th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Department of Schools and Sultan Hassan Secondary School, Bangar organised a Nasyid and Dakwah Song Competition. The competition was held at the Festive Stage, Bangar Town Wharf, 2nd August night.

 

Five groups competed in category A, participated by a combination of primary school students, while category B was participated by Secondary School students. The competition aimed to hone the participants’ talents in Nasyid and expose them to dakwah songs.

Village Sales Festival

 

Awareness in maintaining and preserving cultural heritage as a national treasure, must be instilled among the society, especially the young generation. Yesterday morning, Kampung Ukong Consultative Council through the Youth Bureau held a festival in conjunction with the Adau Gayoh Youth Celebration and Kampung Ukong sales activity.

 

The festival was launched by Awang Haji Haizul Rizal bin Haji Yahya, Acting Assistant Tutong District Officer. The Adau Gayoh Festival is an annual celebration held every 1st of May. The festival was included a number of Dusun ethnic art and cultural performances by the Kampung Ukong youth. Also held were sales of handicrafts from the village products, educational elements for youths as well as exhibitions and animal shows including stalls to help generate the economy of the villagers. Also present was a Member of the Legislative Council.
