Job Offer Letter and Job Acceptance/Rejection Letter

In an effort to ensure the smooth running of the relevant work process as the country faces the second wave of COVID-19, the Public Service Commission has informed on the changes in the procedure for delivering Job Offer Letters to successful candidates and the procedure for submissions of Job Offer Acceptance/Rejection Letters.

 

The Job Offer Letter will be delivered to successful candidates via E-mail. Candidates are advised to always check their email including Junk/Spam folders. The original copy of the Offer Letter will be delivered through the postal service.

 

Meanwhile, the Job Acceptance/Rejection Letter can be submitted through E-mail at ‘ulp.spa@spa.gov.bn’ or through Drop Box provided at Main entrance, 1st Floor, Public Service Commission Building, Old Airport, Berakas during office hours.

Measures to Curb the Spread of COVID-19 Introduced

For the health and safety of its employees and customers, Baiduri Bank has implemented a number of precautionary measures in assisting to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

 

 

 

Customers are advised to use online services namely Baiduri b.Digital Personal and Business i-Banking for the purpose of bill payment and others. Apart from that, video consultation services can also be made through an appointment on the bank’s website at ‘www.baiduri.com.bn’.

 

 

 

Baiduri Bank Group has also changed its operating hours and service operations at its branches following this situation. Customers who wish to make an appointment can contact, 244 9666.

BIBD’s Continuous Support to the Frontliners

Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD continues its support for national efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 with the handover of several donations to front-line agencies.

 

BIBD handed over the SCRUBS from Lailatul Zubaidah binti Haji Mohd Hussin of FERA Health & Nursing Care, yesterday. BIBD’s Chief Marketing Officer, Hajah Nurul Akmar binti Haji Mohd Jaafar handed over the donation to Abdol Azis bin Haji Ahad, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital. Also present was Shinny Chia from Community for Brunei. Part of the donations were collected through the Community for Brunei platform.

 

BIBD also handed over 10 units of foldable trolleys to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The donation was handed over by BIBD’s Government Relations and Protocol Advisor, Pengiran Haji Suhardy bin Pengiran Haji Nordin. The assistance is intended to facilitate the delivery of food from the Youth Centre, in the capital which is currently being used as a food distribution centre for preparation and delivery to families and homes under the Quarantine Order or currently undergoing self-isolation.

Donations to Frontliners and the Public

Various parties continue to contribute to the Ministry of Health in assisting the government to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

 

The Tutong District Youth Group and Puteri Maya Entrepreneurs donated food and beverage packs to frontliners and members of the public waiting to receive the COVID-19 vaccine injection.

Public is Reminded to Follow All the Directives Issued

In the media conference, the Minister of Health also reminded the public to follow all the directives issued regarding measures to control the spread of COVID-19 in the country. All such control measures are aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19.

 

Yang Berhormat the Minister of Health said visiting people either relatives or friends are not allowed. For elderly people living alone, only two family members are allowed to come and visit. Elderly people are not recommended to visit children or grandchildren as this will increase the risk of infection. Essential workers who are required to be on duty are advised to avoid eating and drinking in groups with other friends during break time. Stores that are allowed to open, including grocery stores, must control the number of customers who come into their stores. Visitors are also advised to wait outside the store if the store being visited is busy. Stores that do not implement control measures will be fined or brought to court under the Infectious Diseases Act Chapter 204.

104 New COVID-19 Cases

104 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Brunei Darussalam bringing the total COVID-19 cases to 1,873.

 

There are additional cases to currently active clusters: 5 cases for The Mall Cluster; 3 cases for the Immigration Cluster; 3 for the Al-Falah/Freda-Radin Cluster; 2 for the Semporna Enak Cluster; 2 for the Chung Hua KB Cluster; 2 for the Champion 7 – Platform Cluster; 2 for the Dragon Boat Cluster; 2 for the Samima Cluster; 2 for Jaya Hypermart Cluster; and 1 case for the BSP HQ (Block M) Cluster.

 

Meanwhile, 1 new cluster have been identified: 10 new cases today are related to Case 418 that was reported on the 19th of August 2021. This cluster is now known as the 418 Cluster. Meanwhile, there are 70 cases where the source of infection is still being determined. The cases in the active clusters are individuals who are currently being quarantined and were found to be in contact with several confirmed cases.

 

Contact tracing for all these new cases is currently undergoing. All identified close contacts are required to undergo mandatory quarantine and RT-PCR SARS-CoV-2 test.

 

Meanwhile, seventeen cases have recovered today bringing the total of recovered cases to 436 cases. This means, a total of 1,432 active cases have recorded in Brunei Darussalam. Among the active cases, four cases are in critical condition, where three cases require ventilators and one case requires the help of an additional heart/lung machine (ECMO).

 

Meanwhile, twenty-seven cases have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit for close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, a total of 3,866 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 204,923 tests.

1 Case Passed Away, Not Related to COVID-19

The Ministry of Health informed the public that one COVID-19 confirmed case has returned to the grace and mercy of Allah. The Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al ‘Afiah, Ministry of Health. According to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, the case passed away from a heart attack and the death is not categorised as COVID-19. Also joining the media conference was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy.

 

Yang Berhormat shared that the late patient was Case 1379 who was a 56 year old local male. Allahyarham was admitted to the National Isolation Centre on the 22nd of August 2021. Allahyarham had suffered from congestive cardiac failure and the death is not categorised as due to COVID-19. In order to protect and respect the privacy as well as confidentiality of Allahyarham’s family, the Ministry of Health will not share the personal details of the deceased. Members of the public are also requested to respect and not disseminate information relating to Allahyarham. The Minister, representing the Ministry of Health as well as the people of Brunei Darussalam also expressed his deepest condolences to Allahyarham’s family and pray that his soul will receive blessings from Allah the Almighty and that he is placed among the pious.

Opening Ceremony of the 42nd AIPA General Assembly

At the Opening Ceremony of the 42nd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA held virtually yesterday morning, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, President of 42nd AIPA and Speaker of the Legislative Council in his welcome address stressed, among others, that in an effort to respond and recover the ASEAN region from pandemics collectively, it is high time for the ASEAN Member States to ensure inclusive digital transformation in order to build resilience and better prepare the current and future generations for a post-pandemic era. The rapid digital transformation and adoption brought about by the pandemic underscores just how important digitalisation is in today’s IT-driven world, especially in navigating through these challenging times together.

 

According to Yang Berhormat, themed for the 42nd AIPA General Assembly is very important to explore, promote and enable digital inclusive in an effort to strengthen cooperation between parliaments during a pandemic.

 

The Opening Ceremony was attended by the representatives of the ASEAN Members States’ Parliament as well as Observer countries and AIPA special guests. Brunei Darussalam took over to hold the 42nd AIPA General Assembly hosted by the Legislative Council.

Widen AIPA Cooperation

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah urges for ASEAN parliamentarians to continue promote better understanding and widen cooperation with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA Observer Countries to ensure peaceful, harmonious and prosperous communities. His Majesty made the titah during the official opening of the 42nd General Assembly of AIPA hosted by the Brunei Darussalam Legislative Council. The official opening was held virtually via video conference.

First Plenary Session

During the First Plenary Session, Brunei Darussalam was represented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Sabtu, member of the Legislative Council. The session also invited members from observer countries, the AIPA Secretary General, ASEAN Secretary General and host country's invited guests.

The session was chaired by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib, Speaker of the Legislative Council as the President of the 42nd AIPA. The 42nd AIPA will convene for three days which among others discuss a number of issues including political, social, economic and the AIPA organisation. 28 agenda will be discussed for adoption in the 'Joint Communique' which will convene during the Second Plenary Session on the final day of the General Assembly.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon session, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Hasrin explained that AIPA faces various challenges including cyber security and data protection issues. He stressed that AIPA parliamentarians play a role in ensuring cyber security in the region in accordance with domestic laws, policies and regulations of ASEAN member states.

Payment of Pensions and All Allowances

Payment of Old Age Pensions, Pensions and Disability Allowances and Monthly Welfare Assistance, BKB for the month of August, starting on the 23rd until the 28th of August 2021. Payment of pensions and allowances are carried out via drive-thru in several locations with open areas in all four districts. The drive-thru payment is staggered from 8 in the morning to 12 noon and continues at 2 to 5 in the afternoon except for Friday, from 8 to 11.30 in the morning and from 2:15 to 5.00 in the afternoon.

In Brunei Muara District, payments are held at 82 locations. The drive-thru method is one of the initiatives of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection.

17 locations are available in Belait District. For recipients who do not have a vehicle or are unwell, they are required to appoint a representative by filling in the form, bring along the recipient's original identity card and certified by the respective Head of Village.

Meanwhile in the Tutong district, 24 locations are available. Recipients are reminded to always adhere to the SOPs set by the Ministry of Health such as wearing a face mask and be there according to the date and time given.

Temburong district, 16 locations are available. Payment of Pensions and Allowances are made in advance to enable payment to make in stages for the safety of all parties and to limit crowds.
