Reception On The Occasion Of Emperor of Japan’s Birthday

Cooperative relations between Brunei Darussalam and Japan continue to expand, as the government and people of Japan are involved in Brunei Darussalam’s efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, through donations of vaccines, masks and ART kits. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Brunei Darussalam stated the matter during a reception on the occasion of the 62nd Birthday Anniversary of the Emperor of Japan.

 

Representing His Majesty’s government at the function was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yussof, Second Minister of Defence. His Excellency Maeda Toru, in his speech also shared that as countries in the Asia and the Indo-Pacific region, Japan and Brunei Darussalam share common interests in various fields. This includes broadening bilateral cooperation by supporting Brunei Darussalam’s efforts to further diversify its economy, in line with the National Climate Change Policy. The function took place at a hotel in Gadong.
