Some 690 graduates have completed the aircraft programmes offered by the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College (MTSSR) Campus and the majority of them have found employment as helicopter technicians with the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBPF).

A research on IBTE graduates showed that at least 92 per cent of the graduates have found employment with some currently holding important positions in the aviation industry.

The impressive record of the graduates in finding employment was revealed by Dr. Chin Wei Keh, the Director of Technical Education, during the handover of Bell 212 helicopters to IBTE-MTSSR Campus (New Aircraft Building) in Jalan Berakas yesterday.

Dr. Chin, who is also the CEO of IBTE, highlighted the vital role of technical education in producing skilled human resources that could raise the development of a nation.

“A number ofstrategies are in the pipeline to make sure that the programmes run in IBTE fulfill the needs of the industry and are in line with the current job situation,” he said.

Therefore, he said that, “The shaping of the curriculum that is grounded by competency based training, industry training to increase pedagogical skills of teachers, teaching aids to fulfill the standard of the industry and enhance ties between relevant parties are very important elements that are seen as the key to the success of the programmes offered by IBTE.”

He iterated that IBTE always welcomes any parties from various industries to work together closely by contributing energy, ideas or materials in together developing the nation.
