The emerging 4th Industrial Revolution poses both new challenges and opportunities for Halal businesses, particularly in food manufacturing. The role of accreditation bodies is now being constantly challenged by innovations. New guidelines are needed to continue developing the industry. Speaking at the launching ceremony of Brunei Halal Showcase, BruHAS, the Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry shares that the close cooperation between his ministry and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the stakeholders in ensuring the Halal industry is always aware of the ever-changing times.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Mohammad Hussein said in addition to the government’s commitment to improving the ease of Doing Business in Brunei Darussalam as a whole, his ministry together with the strategic partner are constantly seeking to improve the business ecosystem for the Halal sector in particular.
BruHAS 2019 launched together with the International Seminar on Halalan Thayyiban Products and Services. The showcase brings together businesses, government officials, private sectors representatives, academia and international traders in the halal sectors. It is organised by the Ministry of Energy, manpower and Industry; in collaboration with the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA; and its strategic partners including the Ministry of Religious Affairs; the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and the Ministry of Health. The event is supported by Darussalam Enterprise, DARE; and Laksamana College of Business.
The event includes the keynote address delivered by Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Din @ Maidin, the Deputy State Mufti. The keynote address entitled ‘Meningkatkan Kelestarian Hab Halal’ or ‘Enhancing the Halal Hub Sustainability’ emphasizes the importance of Halal food control.
Also present was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy, Manpower and Industry; and several foreign representatives. The showcase is open to the public for 5 days until Friday, from 10 in the morning until 10 in the evening. The ceremony took place at BRIDEX Hall, Jerudong.
