Involvement of Entrepreneurs is encouraged

To meet the needs of the country, the involvement of local entrepreneurs is strongly encouraged. In this regard, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism will continue to work to facilitate the importation from abroad, especially for certain fish products.

In light of the COVID-19 situation that has hit neighbouring countries since last year and now our country, to ensure food supply from abroad is not affected and at the same time as a precautionary measure and guided by the advice of the transnational affairs steering committee, some additional rules have been imposed for bringing agricultural and fishery products into Brunei Darussalam from abroad by land. For example, foreign vehicles that bring in fish products to Brunei Darussalam by land are only allowed three times a week to be accompanied by the Fisheries Department from the Control Post to Gadong Market to unload all the fish from their vehicles after which the container is escorted by the Department of Fisheries towards the border. The drivers of the vehicles must undergo a COVID-19 test with negative result for COVID-19 and are required to wear PPE and face masks, practice social distancing and not allowed to roam about without any necessary reason.
