Princess Maha Chakri Award

A local teacher received Thailand’s 4th Princess Maha Chakri Award. Pengiran  Haji  Mohd  Wahab bin  Pengiran  Haji  Abdullah, Assistant Senior Technical Instructor at the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus received the acknowledgment for his contributions and commitment towards the development of the education system in Brunei Darussalam.

 

Yesterday morning, Pengiran Haji Mohd Wahab received an official visit from Her Excellency Wanthanee Viputwongsakul, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Brunei Darussalam. The visit among others was to find out more about the curriculum taught and the initiatives taken to help students gain employment in the hospitality and tourism sector. The Princess Maha Chakri Award, introduced in 2015, is to recognise the achievement of outstanding teachers from ASEAN countries and Timor Leste.

UNISSA New Student Admission

 

The current developments and future prospects have prompted the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA to always ensure that the academic programmes offered are relevant to the needs of the country. Thus, UNISSA from time to time strives to expand the academic programmes offered and ensure that they are of high quality and holistic, as well as strives to implement various initiatives to increase the marketability of its graduates in the increasingly challenging career market. Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of UNISSA stated the matter during the UNISSA New Student Mandate and Pledge Ceremony for 2021/2022 Study Session.

 

According to the Rector of UNISSA, the challenge is felt more now when the wave of industrial revolution 4.0 brought major changes to the lifestyle, learning environment, economic generation and the way we work. Like it or not, now or later, the time has come and this demands changes in oneself as well as the organization.

 

The Taaruf Week is held for one week starting yesterday. As a renewal, for this admission, the ‘Taaruf Camp’ Programme will be held at the National Service Programme PKBN Complex in Kampung Batu Apoi, Temburong District from 30th of July until the 1st of August. All new students must stay at the PKBN Complex to participate in spiritual, motivational and community service activities. 534 students is attending the 2021/2022 study session. 409 of them are pursuing undergraduate studies and another 125 students are undertaking postgraduate programs.

Picture Book Writing Contest in Conjunction with Language Month

The Language and Literature Bureau has progressively become the main pillar of the development of educational book publishing to attract reading interest among children and youths in the country. Thus, in an effort to further increase the publication of children’s story books with picture and diversify the reading materials, the Language and Literature Bureau organised a Picture Book Writing Contest in conjunction with the 2021 Language Month.

 

Dayang Rosdiah binti Bahrin, Assistant Editor Level 1, Book Planning Division at the Language and Literature Bureau as the Secretariat of the Picture Book Writing Contest explained that the contest is open to citizens and permanent residents in the country aged 15 years and above. The closing date is on the 30th of November this year.

Orientation Ceremony for July Intake 2021

 

The Ministry of Education is highly committed in producing a supply of highly educated and skilled manpower in line with the objective of Wawasan Brunei 2035. The role of teachers and educators in shaping the future generation is significant by always being committed and proactive in producing effective teaching and learning for student excellence. The matter was stated by the Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at the Ministry of Education during the Orientation Ceremony for July Intake 2021, Technical and Vocational Education and Training, TVET Academy for the Certificate in Technical Education and Diploma in Technical Education Programmes. The ceremony took place at the IBTE Sultan Saiful Rijal Campus, yesterday morning.

 

Doctor Haji Azman bin Ahmad also explained that the Ministry of Education is active in promoting the implementation of Continuing Professional Development, CPD courses for teachers, school leaders and experts needed for the development of human resources that is more competent and of quality. The ceremony ran concurrently with the presentation of training packs for trainee teachers who will join the Certificate in Technical Education and Diploma in Technical Education Programmes.  The TVET Academy is hoped to not only be able to produce students who meet the industry’s needs but also a skilled, innovative and competitive generation.

FITRAH Special Education Association Hari Raya Celebration

The Brunei Darussalam FITRAH Special Education Association organised the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration. The event took place at a hotel in Jerudong.

 

At the ceremony, 10 students with special needs who have vision problems received donations of Special Eyeglasses presented by Dayang Hajah Norjum binti Haji Yusop, President of the FITRAH Special Education Association.

International Conference On Fiqh Al-Zakat Education

 

The main scope of Tithe Management Affairs in Brunei Darussalam is to identify the Approach and Implementation of Tithe Collection and Distribution operationally practiced by the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB through the Tithe Collection and Distribution Division, BAKAZ. The matter was among those explained yesterday morning during the Main Paper Two presentation titled, ” Urustadbir Perlaksanaan Zakat di Negara Brunei Darussalam” at the International Conference on Fiqh  Al- Zakat Education, PAP FIZ, in conjunction with the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition, Brunei MYCE at the International Convention Centre in Berakas.

 

Present was Doctor Haji Adanan bin Haji Besar, Ra’es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College. Among the focus point of the presentation delivered by Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop, the Acting Secretary of MUIB, was on the tithe distribution specifically for the Poor and Destitute Asnaf by taking into account the tithe distribution schemes in the form of Self-Sufficiency and Productivity.

 

The Main Paper Three titled “Pemerkasaan Perlaksanaan Zakat di Negara Brunei Darussalam” was presented by Yang Berbahagia Sahibus Samahah Dato’ Doctor Haji Anhar bin Haji Opir, The Deputy Mufti of Selangor, Malaysia. Yang Berbahagia among others shared the effectiveness of the tithe distribution strategy in Selangor in ensuring that the distribution is sufficient for the main needs of asnaf following the increasing number of poor families every year and the negative impact of the pandemic on the economy.

Closing Ceremony Of International Conference On Fiqh Al-Zakat Education

 

Aspects of Education and Understanding of the People; Management, Procurement and Distribution; Construction of Contemporary Law and Ijtihad as well as the Asnaf Development Aspects are the 4 resolutions from the International Conference on Fiqh Al- Zakat Education, PAP- FIZ 2021. The resolution was handed over during the conference’s closing ceremony yesterday afternoon.

 

Earlier, the third premier paper was tabled by Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Metussin bin Haji Baki, titled “Memperkasa Pengelolaan dan Pengurusan Zakat Dalam Memajukan Sosio Ekonomi Umat Islam: Cabaran dan Harapan”. Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Metussin explained on tithe which is a right that must be imposed on property owners and it does not resemble giving gifts, consolations, assistance and compassion voluntarily, whereas, zakat is an obligatory commandment of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Present to witness the presentation was Awang Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

 

The PAPFIZ 2021 resolution was handed over by Doctor Haji  Adanan bin Haji Besar, Ra’es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College to the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The conference which was jointly organised by KUPU SB and Department of Islamic Religious Council, Ministry of Religious Affairs, was part of the line up in the Brunei Mid-Year Conference and Exhibitions, MYCE.
