The Islamic Education System in the Malay world needs to be reviewed by taking into account the development and current global progress. Apart from that, Tauhid Aqidah needs to be strengthened as a foundation towards building a peaceful Islamic sovereignty, based on the Ahli Sunnah Waljama’ah by upholding the ‘wasatiyyah’ or moderation principle in all forms of ‘muamalat’ for ummah solidarity in Malay world.
The matter was among the resolutions adopted in the 6th International Conference on Islam in the Malay World. In the resolution, Doctor Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu, Dean of UNISSA’s Usuluddin Faculty also underlined that the need for raising the academic institutions’ cooperation and understanding based on Baldatun Tayyibatun Wa Rabbun Ghafur concept. The resolution also stressed on the efforts to explore the Brunei model that integrates Islamic values in economy, politics, social and culture according to Malay Islamic Monarchy concept. The conference’s resolution was handed over by Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA to Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Education.
Earlier, a forum entitled “Kemakmuran Negara Pemangkin kesejahteraan Ummah di Alam Melayu” or The Nation’s Prosperity is the Catalyst of Ummah Well-being in the Malay World was discussed by five panel members. The forum among other touched on the prosperity enjoyed by the nation which was created through relationship between individuals, universe and Allah Subahanahu Wataala. A prosperous nation is a nation that obtains the forgiveness from Allah the Almighty. Carrying the theme ‘Islam Pemangkin Kemakmuran Di Alam Melayu’, or Islam the Catalyst of Prosperity in the Malay World, the conference assists in expanding networks among the Islamic scholars in the Malay world for the purpose of research and various academic activities.
