The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism arranged a visit for the Singaporean delegation to Gropoint Sendirian Berhad farm in Tungku Agriculture Development area yesterday afternoon. It was the first series of visits arranged by the ministry to share and brief on the development and achievements of entrepreneurial activities pertaining to agriculture and fisheries industries in the country. The 7-member delegation, led by His Excellency Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of the Republic of Singapore, was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.
Also joining the visit were His Excellency Mr Lim Hong Huai, High Commissioner of the Republic of Singapore to Brunei Darussalam; Pengiran Haji Kamalrudzaman bin Pengiran Haji Mohd. Ishak, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism; and Awang Haji Abdul Halidi bin Mohd.Salleh, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism. During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the agriculture and agrifood industry in the country by Dayang Hajah Aidah Binti Haji Mohd Hanifah, Director of Agriculture and Agrifood. Gropoint Sendirian Berhad is a joint venture company between local farmers with foreign investors from Malaysia. So far, the company produced musk melons that have been imported to Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. By 2023, the company is expected to increase its output to one thousand 140 metric tonnes of musk melon, estimated at 11 point 4 million dollars annually.
