The Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB, with the cooperation of the Islamic Studies Department, in reviewing the existing curriculum contents and assessment system at religious and Arabic schools in the country, covering the syllabus, text books and examination format. It is aimed towards improvement in order to enhance the efficacy of teaching, learning and assessment from the primary level until pre-university. Speaking at the Fourth Lughat Al-Mu’alim Workshop yesterday afternoon, Doctor Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, Ra’es of KUPU SB, hoped that the collaboration will also produce the National Standards for religious and Arabic schools for the subjects of Al-Quran, Arabic Language and Jawi.
Doctor Haji Adanan said, the government in general requires pro-active involvement from teachers and those involved in the teaching and dissemination of Arabic Language. KUPU SB, he explained, welcomes any noble efforts which are well planned and submitted through the correct platforms towards a stable and balanced education development.
Meanwhile, Doctor Haji Abang Hadzmin bin Haji Abang Taha, Director of the KUPU SB Language Centre as the workshop’s chairman in tabling his working paper among others touched on the challenges and requirements of applying Arabic Language for daily use so that communicating in the Arabic Language will continue to be the norm. The workshop is held to help teachers in mastering the four basic skills in Arabic Language namely, Istima’, Qira’ah, Kitabah and Kalam. The 10 week workshop is specifically for teachers of the Arabic Language subject under the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
