To ensure the differently-abled students are given the opportunity to master Al-Quran reading, the Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education has organised the 3rd Memorising Al-Quran Verses Competition for Differently- abled secondary school students nationwide. The final was held yesterday morning at Dewan Tarbiyyah, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB.

15 students competed in the final. Awang Eddy Iswanndy Ismail bin Imran from Masin Secondary School and Dayang Izzah Zuhairah binti Yahya of Sultan Hasan Secondary School in Bangar emerged champions of the 'Aliran Perdana' category. Meanwhile, the pre-vocational category was won by Ampuan Mohd Aiman Syahmi bin Ampuan Haji Mohd Sharol Amiruddin from Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School and Nurul Aziqah binti Abdullah Mohd Sharin from Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School.

Prizes were presented by Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. The competition held in the month of Ramadhan is hoped to motivate the differently-abled students to practise Al-Quran reading in their daily lives.
