Messages and photos made viral, on 15th May, through social media platforms including WhatsApp alleging that a section of the bridge under Temburong Bridge Project has 'collapsed' are false and unfounded. The Ministry of Development in a media statement today explained that the Temburong Bridge Project includes the construction of a bridge, about 3.7km from Jalan Kota Batu, for a turn-around facility.

The bridge is also designed for future connections to the two nearby islands, Pulau Baru Baru and Pulau Pepatan in line with developments in the area. In this regard, the public is advised not to easily believe unverified information spread through social media applications. The Ministry of Development reminds the public that spreading false and unfounded information is an offence under Section 34 of the Public Order Act, Chapter 148, which carries a penalty of imprisonment of up to three years or a fine of three thousand dollars.
