Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, BRF which is expected to explore the prospect of cooperation in the context of close relations with the participating countries.

The People's Republic of China regards BRF as a very important international event on the 2019 calendar. The 3-day forum will be attended by nearly 40 national leaders and Heads of Government and gathers around 5 thousand delegates from more than 150 nations and 90 international organisations. There will also be wide coverage by 4 thousand journalists from the Chinese mainland and abroad. The Belt and Road, BRI initiative aims to build a trade network and infrastructure that link Asia with Europe and Africa through the Silk Road. This is achieved through a maritime network and infrastructure which enable the sharing of trade operations, responsibilities and profits. During the forum Asian and African leaders are expected to urge Beijing to reduce the cost of financing the Belt and road projects. Since it was first proposed in 2013, more than 50 nations and international organisations have signed agreements on various fields of cooperation with the People's Republic of China.

For Brunei Darussalam, its bilateral relations with the People's Republic of China will be utilised at all levels to coordinate and develop cooperation in diverse areas. As contained in the Joint Statement issued during the State Visit of His Excellency Xi Jinping, the President of the People's Republic of China, the two leaders agreed to work towards strengthening further their respective national development strategies. China also voiced continuous support to Brunei Darussalam's sustainable economic development and efforts to diversify it besides boosting bilateral trade cooperation and investment.
