The National Committee and Executive Administration Committees for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s birthday anniversary celebration at the district level, and working committees are urged to be more diligent and to plan new approaches as added value to further improve His Majesty’s 73rd birthday celebration events that can attract the participation and involvement of all levels of society with different concepts and formats. Speaking while chairing the First Meeting of the National Committee for His Majesty’s birthday celebration this year, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia (Dr.) Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs as Chairman of the Royal Birthday Celebration National Committee expressed his hope for committee members to continue to provide cooperation, loyal service, commitment as well as ideas in making preparations to ensure the smooth running of the celebration events.
Yang Berhormat Pehin said that it is fitting for the committee to review the composition of the committee memberships so that those who are appointed will truly provide meaningful contributions and shoulder their duties with full responsibility and commitment. Yang Berhormat Pehin urged for the committees to assimilate the appointment of youths in the committees so that they will have an opportunity to bring forth new ideas aside from playing a role as the future generation.
The meeting among discussed the confirmation of the dates for the main events of this year’s royal birthday celebration and the concept and format of the performances for the Get-Together and Junjung Ziarah ceremony with citizens and residents in the districts. Among those present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, Yang Di-Pertua of Adat Istiadat Negara, and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Penggawa Laila Bentara Istiadat Diraja Dalam Istana Pengiran Haji Alauddin bin Pengiran Paduka Tuan Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar, the Grand Chamberlain.
