According to the World Bank's Doing Business Report 2018, Brunei Darussalam was named as the most improved economy in the world for 3 years in a row in the Ease of Doing Business. According to the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, the significant improvement in this ranking reflects the serious commitment of His Majesty's government towards creating a pro-business environment that would enable further diversification of the country's economy. Therefore, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong welcomed more Korean investors to invest in the country in tourism, ICT, manufacturing, agriculture as well as fishery apart from oil and gas. The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism stated the matter at the Brunei-Korea Joint Economic Cooperation Seminar yesterday morning at the Design and Technology Building in Anggerek Desa.

Yang Berhormat added in identifying new tourism investment opportunities, the ministry is also progressing in terms of connectivity to facilitate the tourists. Therefore, Yang Berhormat hoped that there will be more connectivity established, as well as collaboration between the airlines, travel agents and hotel.

Meanwhile, Her Excellency Yoon Hyum Bong, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam in her welcoming remarks, said that direct flights between Brunei and Korea have boosted the tourism between the two countries. She added, understanding of each other's culture and economic climate makes it feasible to promote new businesses. The one-day seminar was organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism with the cooperation of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, the Brunei Economic Development Board and Darussalam Enterprise. Among those present include experts and key stakeholders from selected Korean companies in the field of tourism and from the government agencies. The seminar aimed to promote business exchanges between Brunei and Korea, enhance cooperative businesses and facilitate the joint venture between the two countries.
