His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam paid his last respects to Allahyarham Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Raja Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Mohd Daud in Kampung Delima Satu, yesterday morning. Also in attendance was His Majesty's son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.
Allahyarham Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Raja Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ali passed away at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital at around 7.45 last night at the age of 82.
His Majesty and His Royal Highness performed the Jenazah prayer led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
During his lifetime, Allahyarham served as the Immigration and National-level registration Controller; Senior Officer at the Private and Confidential Secretary to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam Department; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home affairs, Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Allahyarham was also a member of the Islamic Religious Council. Allahyarham was bestowed a Manteri 32 title of 'Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Raja' on the 21st of May 1996 and was bestowed State Decorations and Medals, among them Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia First Class, S.P.M.B; Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia Second Class D.P.M.B; Darjah Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Yang Amat Berjasa Third Class, SLJ: Pingat Jasa Kebaktian and Pingat Kerja Lama. Allahyarham was laid to rest at the Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah cemetery.
