The Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque is 60 years old today. In conjunction with the Diamond Jubilee, The Mosque Affairs Department with the cooperation of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque Takmir Committee held the mass Fardhu Maghrib and Isyak prayers, the reading of Surah Yasin, Tahlil and Doa Kesyukuran earlier this evening.

The congregants included Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs. The celebration began with the mass Fardhu Maghrib prayer led by Mudim Haji Amran bin Haji Mohd Salleh.

Meanwhile, the mass sunnat Solat Hajat was led by Awang Mohammad Hasnal bin Haji Mohammad.

The celebration included the reading of Surah Yasin and Tahlil. Apart from expressing gratitude to Allah the Almighty, the ceremony also commemorated the history of the mosque which is also used for State or National events nowadays. The Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque became a landmark of Islam's glory in the country when it's inaugurated on the 26th of September 1958. Also in attendance were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs; Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
