Due to ongoing maintenance works at the Bukit Barun Water Treatment Plant, lower levels of treated water production are to be expected.
According to the Public Works Department, the estimated duration of the plant major up-grading work will take at least 12 months. The department added, the maintenance work is very essential and critical, in order to ensure that the old plants continue to run efficiently and able to produce adequate amount of potable water to serve the general public without interruption in the future. The maintenance works are done under 'live' condition - without shutting down the plants. This is done to minimise the duration of disruption in water supply to the some areas in the Brunei Muara District, especially at the Lambak and Madang areas.
