Brunei Darussalam continues to achieve progress and rapid changes that benefit the country's people. As in the three other districts, Tutong also continues to enjoy progress and development especially in infrastructure, education, economy, communication, health, public facilities and security.
Among the biggest infrastructural development now enjoyed by citizens and residents in Tutong is the Telisai-Lumut Highway. The project is among efforts to improve the country's transportation infrastructure to link the Brunei Muara, Tutong and Belait Districts. The approximately 18.6 kilometre long highway from Telisai to Lumut eases movement of people, vehicles and goods in the said areas, ultimately enhancing socio-economic activities in the national development agenda.
His Majesty's Government continues to give priority to the well-being and security of the people, including in providing housing to landless citizens. The benevolence of the Monarch in providing affordable houses especially to low-income citizens through the various national housing schemes is a reflection of His Majesty's love and care for the people. Providing good and affordable shelters to the people, the housing projects also help Tutong District to develop further.
His Majesty's Government also gives the highest priority to high quality education, comprehensive health services, progress in socio-economy and security. Every mukim and village in the country, including in Tutong District benefits from public facilities provided by the government, such as clean water supply, electricity and telecommunications service. The services reach most of the people including communities in the rural areas.
Placing the Civil and Shari'ah Courts under one roof is among the strategic plans of His Majesty's government under the 10th National Development Plan or RKN. The construction of the permanent building to house the courts is carried out under the State Judicial Department. There is also an evident growth in the number of business premise which reflects the progress and life quality of Tutong District residents.
According to Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, the Tutong District Officer, cooperation and solidarity among the various parties in the district have resulted in development and better quality of life among people in Tutong. Awang Shamsul Bahrin added His Majesty's Government through the 'whole of nation approach' among the relevant agencies will continue to develop the district towards realising Wawasan Negara 2035 for the maximum benefit of the people in aspects such as economy, education and others.
The progress and development are in line with government plans under the National Development Plan or RKN which are geared towards the realisation of Wawasan Negara 2035. The fruits of these population centric projects will benefit all the country's people, including Tutong residents.
