At this year's Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration, the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah organised a gathering among 130 private companies in the country which needs the services of local manpower with one thousand and sixty eight local graduates from institutes of higher learning. 24 of the private sector companies participated in an exhibition on career opportunities and incentives offered to locals. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to tour the exhibition.

Before viewing the exhibition, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri as well as the members of the Royal Family consented to a group photo session with members of the Boards of Governors and Directors of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and members of the celebration's Executive Committee.

The exhibition was participated by companies involved in oil and gas, banking and hotels and hospitality. It was a show of the Yayasan's support towards the private companies in answering the government's call to assist locals to gain employment in the private sector.

Also in attendance were His Majesty's sons,

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince;

- and His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

Among the objectives of the 'JobCentre Brunei', is to help transform the mindset of local youth to work in the private sector and not to be overly hope of gaining employment in the government sector. This will indirectly help to reduce unemployment in the country and to lessen the employers' dependence on foreign workers.

The participants were local graduates from institutes of higher learning and possess qualifications in specific fields such as development and engineering, banking and finance, ICT, education, health, hospitality and tourism as well as business. They also have the potential to contribute towards enhanced productivity to empower the private sector towards improving or further developing the country's economy.

The selection of this year's participants was in response to the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in motivating the private sector to have a more important role in generating economic progress, particularly with the help of local experts.

More importantly, the private sector can also support the country's aspiration through Wawasan Brunei Two Thousand Thirty Five (2035) to achieve the goal of educated, skilled and accomplished people through the development of human resource who contribute towards national needs.

The exhibition was also intended as a platform that brings together and facilitate through a meeting of the two parties, the jobseekers and employers to foster relations and get acquainted. This in turn will facilitate the offering and acceptance of jobs.

His Majesty later consented to witness a "gulintangan" performance by the pupils of the Yayasan Primary School.

Before departing from the exhibition, His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri consented to receive the junjung ziarah and to mingle with all the participants. The presence of both Their Majesties at the event was a very valuable and significant gift. It also provided motivation and encouragement to the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah to continue gathering participants from different backgrounds every year to carry out their roles and responsibilities towards the socio-economic development, as well as religion and the nation.
