The Global Money Week is a financial awareness week organised by Child and Youth Finance International (CYFI) celebrated every year at the international level by 137 countries. Its aim is to encourage students and youth to learn the importance of money, to be prudent, create sources of income, find jobs and become entrepreneurs. In conjunction with the Global Money Week 2018, the Curriculum Development Department, Ministry of Education yesterday morning presented certificates of appreciation to primary school pupils who participated in the $5 Care Package Activity.

Certificates were handed over by Awang Haji Zulkifli bin Haji Md Yusof, Acting Director of the Curriculum Development Department. 80 pupils from sixteen government primary schools received the certificates. The $5 "Care Package" Activity gave the opportunity to cooperate with National Education Institutions in Singapore in providing a platform for students to interact and exchange information. Apart from that the activity also introduced the purchasing power concept for each country's currency and tested the pupil's wisdom or smartness in relation to the "What I Can Buy With $5" issue.
