Producing youths who are able to be independent, disciplined, possessing integrity and productive is the main objective of the Youth Camp 2017. The activity which is held for the second time has attracted more than 30 male and female youths. The three day camp which began yesterday was held at the Wasai Mengaris, Kampung Selangan, Amo in Temburong.
The camp organised by the Temburong Branch of the Youth and Sports Department's Youth Centre Club with the cooperation of the CARE Association Committee and Outward Bound Brunei Darussalam. Various activities are lined up such as extreme sports including kayaking foraging for forest edible items, cultural night and group activities. According to Pengiran Noralim bin Pengiran Haji Hidup, the Deputy Chairman of the Temburong Youth Club, the aim of the camp is to teach the participating youths new experiences such as how to camp and also be independent in order to be able to face any unavoidable problems that comes up.
The camp is one of the positive steps towards enabling the club to be active in activities that build up self-esteem as well as providing opportunities for the club members to practise their existing skills aside from producing youths who are responsible, caring for the community and possess leadership skills.
