The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October 2017 increased by point 3 per cent year-on-year compared to October last year. Both Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages and Non-Food Index recorded an improvement of 1 point 5 percent and less than point 5 percent year-on-year, respectively. The increase was mainly attributed to increase in the indices of Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages by 1 point 5 percent; Communication 1 point 1 percent and Transports point 7 percent.
The Food & Non-Alcoholic Beverages rose due to increased price for meat, fish and sea food, oil and fats, fruits, vegetables, other products as well as mineral waters, soft drinks, fruit and vegetable juices. The improvement in the Communication Index was due to increase in the prices of telephones and telefax, while the jump in Transport Index was due to increase in in the prices of motor car, bicycles and flight tickets.
