July Plastic Free Campaign

The Ministry of Development through the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation in collaboration with Big BWN Project and Zero Waste Brunei continued the July Plastic Free Campaign project at the Tudong Saji Festive Stall in Kuala Belait, 24th July night.

 

The Every Day without Plastic Bags Initiative’s posters were handed over by Dayang Martinah binti Haji Tamit, Acting Director of Environment, Parks and Recreation to Awang Haji Azmi bin Haji Abdul Rahim, Acting Chairman of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board. More than 200 recycle bags were distributed including those from Butra Heidelberg cement Sendirian Berhad. The campaign aims to raise public awareness on plastic pollution and also take action to reject disposable plastics apart from finding alternatives and starting more environmentally friendly habits.

Village Head Candidate Voting and Selection

 

 

The Candidate Voting and Selection for the position of Village Head of Kampong Lambak ‘B’, was held yesterday morning at Datu Mahawangsa Lambak Primary School.

 

329 people were qualified to vote. The sole candidate for the position was Pengiran Jofri bin Pengiran Haji Zaidi, aged 55. Present were Awang Misle bin Haji Abd Karim, Brunei Muara District Officer and a member of the Legislative Council.

Pentarama’ Performance

Festive stages in all districts continue to enliven the nights of the 75th Royal Birthday celebration.

 

The festive stage in Tutong District, showcased a pentarama performance organised by the Information Department through the Nationhood Unit, Strategic Communication Section and District Information branches. The drama sketch ‘COVID Oh COVID’ by the Putera Seni Group tells the story of awareness on COVID-19. Present were members of the Legislative Council and Awang Haji Shahrul Jeffri bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Acting Director of Information.

 

Meanwhile in the town centre, the final of the Poetry declamation Contest for Secondary Schools and Colleges nationwide was held. The contest participated by six schools aimed to expose secondary school and college students on the rhythm of Brunei syair or poetry declamation. Present was Awang Suip bin Haji Abd Wahab, Director of Language and Literature Bureau.

 

The festive stage located at the Bangar Town Wharf in Temburong, showcased a tausyeh performance by the Utama Mohd Salleh Mosque Youths and Kampung Piasau-Piasau Surau Female Youths. Also held was a talk delivered by Awang Hilman bin Haji Salim, Director of the Fiqh Al-Usrah Study Centre which touched on the greatness of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu ‘Alaihi  Wasallam.

Sport Culture towards a Healthy Life

Brunei Darussalam is among the countries that have proven to be successful is making sports as a platform towards the strengthening of national integration beyond the limits of religion and race. Sports are a very effective activity and has the potential to shape an active, healthy and strong society from physical and mental aspects. The sports facilities provided by the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam also act as catalysts to enculture sports as a healthy lifestyle practise.

 

Sports is a medium that can produce youths of quality, who contribute towards nation development. In playing sports, society can gain numerous benefits, namely healthy bodies as well as active minds. Tutong District Development

Although Tutong District is currently undergoing rapid development, it is still able to maintain the land’s greenery. Apart from the existing development, Tutong District continues to actively plan developments towards Wawasan Negara 2035. Let’s look at the special report on the district’s development.

 

Tutong District which has an area of one thousand one hundred and 66 square kilometres with over 52 thousand residents, is the third largest district from the aspects of geography and population. Under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Tutong District continues to develop in which its citizens and residents enjoy various facilities through the provision of physical development infrastructures, education system, health care, provision of housing and a sustainable socio-economic development agenda through Wawasan Negara 2035.

 

A number of infrastructural development projects under the 11th National Development Plan are actively being carried out in the district. Among them, Molecular Diagnostic Clinical Laboratory for Infectious Diseases at Bukit Bendera.

 

The 10.6 kilometre Telisai-Lumut Highway further enhances the country’s transport infrastructure and facilitates the mobility of the people and goods towards further boosting socio-economic activities in the national development agenda.

 

The infrastructure facilities are also enjoyed by residents in rural areas. The construction of roads and upgrading works further eases access for rural residents to the town area. Rural residents also enjoy several other facilities among them clean water and electrical supply system as well as telecommunications facilities.

 

The Jubli Emas Dam is among the government efforts to further enhance water supply security in Brunei Muara District and Tutong District.

 

Wawasan Negara 2035 among other matters underscores the best life quality for the people on par with the top 10 countries in the world. This includes Tutong District, in which to date, some 2,700 house units and 16 land lots under various national housing schemes have been awarded to qualified recipients.

 

Tutong District with its fertile land enables its residents to venture into agriculture in Tutong District and also contribute to the country’s economic growth.

 

In the fishing industry, Tutong District has also attracted a number of foreign investors. An example is the pond reared prawns enterprise by Golden Corporation Sendirian Berhad, and its joint venture with The Oman Brunei Investment Company, which has contributed significantly to the country’s fishing industry yield.

 

In the aspect of tourism, Tutong District is one of main tourist destinations, offering places of interest with the natural environment concept as well as touring and education culture.
