World First Aid Day Celebration

In commemorating World First Aid Day, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD with the support of the Brunei Red Crescent Society held the World First Aid Day event, 10th September afternoon. With the goal of highlighting the importance of first aid and raising awareness on how first aid can save lives, the celebration took place at BIBD Connects of Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas in the capital.

The event was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health. Yang Berhormat also handed over First Aid Pouches to members of the BIBD Corporate Platoon, an auxiliary agent or support for the Brunei Red Crescent Society in carrying out Basic First Aid missions or initiatives.

The Minister of Health also officiated the installation of an Automated External Defibrillator, AED at BIBD Connects which is accessible for public use during emergencies. This is the first time such an event for World First Aid Day was held in the country through outdoor activities. It was also joined by exhibitors from multiple stakeholders with the hope of encouraging more members of the public to learn first aid, and to be aware of the importance of having first aid knowledge in order to create safer and healthier communities. World First Aid Day is celebrated on the second Saturday of September each year.
