Philippines Government Commits to Accelerated Development in BARMM

MANILA - President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has committed his administration to intensify efforts towards ensuring peace and development within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The commitment was made in light of the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), a key event that underscores the government's dedication to the region's advancement and stability.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos expressed the national government's unwavering commitment to the Bangsamoro people, promising a brighter future through sustained efforts in governance and development. The president underscored the importance of inclusivity and cultural respect in overcoming challenges and reaffirmed his dedication to fulfilling the promises made to the region.

The CAB, a significant peace agreement, laid the groundwork for the creation of the BARMM by enabling the passage of the Bangsamoro Organic Law. This legislation, which President Marcos helped draft during his tenure as a legislator, establishes the framework for the autonomous government's operations and is pivotal for the region's progress.

President Marcos emphasized the achievements made since the CAB's signing and acknowledged the necessity for continued action. He highlighted his administration's commitment to collaborating with the Bangsamoro government to ensure the region's prosperity, particularly by supporting vital legislation and fair elections slated for 2025.

Further elaborating on the strategic importance of the BARMM's development, President Marcos linked the region's stability and progress to the broader objective of creating a peaceful and unified Philippines. He concluded with a call to solidarity, stressing that a robust BARMM contributes to a stronger Mindanao and, consequently, a more resilient nation.
