The Government of His Majesty also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the Recognition of Certificates Under the Terms of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers, 1978, As Amended. It was signed by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, while the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was represented by His Excellency Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Shipping.
The MoU will bilaterally recognise the training standards and certification issued by both parties and to allow seafarers from both nations to work on board vessels that carry the Brunei Darussalam or the Bangladeshi flags. Before leaving the Prime Minister’s Office, His Majesty was bade farewell by Her Excellency Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
