Addressing Lack of Teachers and Workload Burden

The Ministry of Education has provided guidelines in addressing the issue of teachers who are also carrying out administrative duties. Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education explained the matter in response to the issue of lack of teachers and burden of teachers' workload raised by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Mohamad Danial Alias Tekpin bin Ya'akub.

Yang Berhormat said that these teachers are given a slightly lighter workload than other teachers. They will be given 10 to 16 teaching periods in a week, which is equivalent to 5 to 8 hours a week. Apart from that, the Ministry of Education has also implemented the Ideal Number of Teachers in a School or I-Not Initiative, as well as the right sizing of classes to ensure the maximisation of the number of teachers at every school with the appropriate duties and workload.
