71 New Cases, 4 New Clusters, 55 Cases Recovered

71 new COVID-19 cases are confirmed in the country yesterday, bringing the total COVID-19 cases to 14,701. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation yesterday at Dewan Al’Afiah, Ministry of Health.

 

There are 37 additional new cases to 10 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. 4 new clusters were detected that involved 21 cases. These new clusters are accommodation clusters namely LKH Sdn Bhd Cluster and Mah Mega Dormitory Cluster.

 

Six clusters were closed following no new detected cases for 28 days. The closed clusters are Pasar Gadong, 9012, 9627, 10625, 11942 and Negalang Unat Site. The current total active clusters are 145. Meanwhile, 13 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infection.

 

55 cases have recovered yesterday, taking the total recovered cases to 14,162, with 441 cases remaining active. Among the cases, 5 are in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. Meanwhile, one other case in Category 4 requires oxygen assistance and close monitoring.

 

In the past 24 hours, 4,860 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of lab tests carried out since January 2020 to 592,626.
