Ongoing projects and activities in the information and media sector such as the Promotion of Media and Information Literacy Project, Study on the Information and Media Landscape of ASEAN and the ASEAN Task Force on Fake News were discussed during the Sixth Meeting of Senior Officials Responsible on Information and Working Group Information, Media and Training, 6th SOMRI WGIMT. Brunei Darussalam participated in the meeting through a Video Conference from the Multipurpose Room of the Information Department.
Brunei delegation was led by Awang Haji Shahrul Jeffri bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Acting Director of Information as Chairman of the Sub-Committee of Information SCI of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information COCI of Brunei Darussalam. Chaired by Mr. Has Sam Ath, Undersecretary of States, Ministry of Information, Government of Cambodia, the meeting was also joined by representatives from ASEAN member states and the ASEAN Secretariat. Several new journalism training projects related to health crisis issues during the pandemic namely 'AIBD/ASEAN Sub-Regional Online Media Dialogue on Revitalizing Media Credibility in the Era of Infodemic' and 'ASEAN/AIBD Creating Knowledgeable Journalists in an Era of Health Uncertainty' were also discussed and received support from each ASEAN member state during the meeting.
