Installation of Arches Enlivens the Royal Wedding Ceremony

The installation of arches and the hoisting of the national flag further enlivened the atmosphere of preparation for the Royal Wedding Ceremony between Her Royal Highness Princess 'Azemah Ni'matul Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar.

The country's citizens and residents in the four districts have made detailed preparations to enliven the Royal Wedding Ceremony. This included the installation of arches at the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in Bandar Seri Begawan, where the Royal Akad Nikah Ceremony will take place.

Meanwhile, the national flags were also hoisted at government buildings, business premises and private homes. In conjunction with the Royal Wedding Ceremony, all citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam are required to hoist the flag from yesterday until the closing of the Gendang Jaga-Jaga on Tuesday, the 17th of January 2023.

Setting Up Of Royal Regalia and Decorations

As the beating of the Nakara reverberated during the 'Majlis Istiadat Membuka Gendang Jaga-Jaga' at the Lapau in Bandar Seri Begawan, yesterday morning, the Royal Regalia and Decorations were also set up at the Balai-Balai Pemajangan at Istana Nurul Iman and Assana' in Jerudong.

The Royal Regalia were put up along both Balai Pemajangan as soon as twenty-one cannon shots resounded during the 'Majlis Istiadat Membuka Gendang Jaga-Jaga'. Among the royal regalia and decorations are Tunggul Charok, Payong Ubor-Ubor, Ula-Ula Besar, Payong Haram, Chogan Ugama, Chogan Diraja, Payong Tinggi, Tunggul Alam Bernaga and Dadap. The Regalia, inherited through the eras of Brunei's monarchical dynasty, each has its own meaning.

The Royal Regalia are usually installed during royal weddings, coronation and royal processions. The Pemajangan is built according to the suitability of the place and each is known as Pemajangan Kenaikan, Pemajangan Pelaluan, Pemajangan Istana, Pemajangan Lapau and Pemajangan Kenderaan. Normally it is decorated with Rawai Lidah.

The Banting Flag is also set up as decorations along the main route of Istana Nurul Iman.

The Royal Regalia and Decorations were also set up at the Balai Pemajangan Assana', Jerudong. Among the royal regalia and decorations are Tunggul Charok, Payong Ubor-Ubor, Ula-Ula Besar, Payong Haram and Payong Tinggi. A group of Gendang Jaga- Jaga has been bestowed by His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di- Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam to the Royal Groom.

Media Conference on COVID-19

The number of reported cases of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam continues to show an increase in which the average daily rate of cases last week was 350 cases per day, compared to 227 cases per day in the previous week. The matter was stated by the Minister of Health during the COVID-19 Media Conference yesterday afternoon. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar also shared there is no case in Category 5 while three cases are in Category 4 requiring oxygen assistance and close monitoring.

As of 8 January 2023, the rate of vaccination coverage of COVID-19 in the country remains high with 79 percent of all citizens and residents of the country having received the third dose of the vaccine and 11.6 percent also having received the fourth dose. 297 new cases have been reported of which 293 cases are the result of ART and 4 cases are the result of 230 RT-PCR tests performed in the past 24 hours.

Royal Wedding Song ‘Kirana Pengantin Diraja

A song titled ' Kirana Pengantin Diraja' emerged champion in the Song Composition and Production Contest in conjunction with the Royal Wedding Ceremony organised by Radio Television Brunei, RTB. The song was composed by Muhammad Shahminan bin Mohd Yunos.

According to Muhammad Shahminan, the process of composing the song with other partners was slightly challenging due to the short time and communication with group members was only through 'Whatsapp' application. The group managed to compose a song showcasing the atmosphere of excitement and enthusiasm in celebrating the Royal Wedding Ceremony.

He added that the song acts as the citizens' contribution to further enliven the Royal Wedding and it is also a way for them to express the beauty and joy of celebrating the Royal Wedding.
