Result for Closed Tender Special Vehicle Registration Number

The list of successful tenderers for closed tender special vehicle registration number for one digit will be announced tomorrow, 15th December 2022.

 

The Department of Land Transport, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications in its press release informed that the result will be available at the website, www.jpd.gov.bn. Successful bidders are required to collect their Award Letter from tomorrow, 15 November 2022 at Department of Land Transport Headquarters.

Active Weather Forecast: 15 – 17 December 2022

Brunei Darussalam is currently in the first phase of the Northeast Monsoon, where generally unsettled weather conditions with showers or thunderstorms, heavy at times, are expected especially at night until early morning. Acting Chief Meteorological Officer in an interview with RTB News yesterday afternoon stated that weather condition over Brunei Darussalam is forecasted to be active starting tomorrow, 15th December until Saturday, 17th December.

 

Awang Hassanul Kamal bin Haji Adam said this condition normally enhances the development of rain clouds and thus increases rainfall activity in our country. Showers, heavy and thundery at times, are expected with wind speed that may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy showers. Meanwhile, over Brunei waters, wave condition is at slight to moderate state, with wave height of 0.6 meter to 1.4 meter.

 

The public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and falling trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition. Road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety. The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the weather conditions and will issue weather advisories or warnings if necessary.

‘Maritah Ke LLRC’ Special Edition

 

The Liang Lumut Recreation Club is organizing ‘Maritah Ke LLRC’ Special Edition until this Sunday, in conjunction with Brunei December Festival in 2022. Over 20 local entrepreneurs are participating.

Adulterated Cosmetic Product

 

The public is advised not to use one cosmetic product found to be adulterated with undeclared, potent western medicine.  The Ministry of Health in its media release informed that the findings were the result of laboratory tests by the Pharmacy Division, Department of Scientific Services.

 

Airee Beauty Care – Night Cream manufactured in Malaysia was found to be adulterated with Mercury.  The adulterant found in the products can cause adverse effects that are harmful to health. Public who have used the products are advised to stop taking them immediately. The sale of the products including online is an offence under the Medicines (Cosmetic Products) Regulations, 2007 and if found guilty can be fined not more than $5,000, imprisonment not more than two years or both.

‘Berhibur Di Hub’ Event

The Brunei History Interactive Quiz is one of the activities of the Brunei History Centre for the ‘Berhibur di Hub’ event. The 3-day event in conjunction with the Brunei December Festival took place at the Brunei Energy Hub at the Royal Wharf in the Capital.

 

Activities aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding as well as appreciation of the country’s history among the younger generation. The event is open until tomorrow from 2.30 in the afternoon to 8 at night. Apart from that, sales of books published by the Brunei History Centre are also on display.

Welcoming Ceremony for RBAF Peacekeepers

30 Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF personnel who were part of the Malaysian Battalion or MALBATT 850-9 returned safely to the country recently after a 13-month deployment serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, UNIFIL. yesterday, a welcoming ceremony for the contingent was held at Bolkiah Garrison.

 

The RBAF contingent was welcomed by Brigadier General Udara Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Joint Force Commander RBAF. The ceremony included reading of Doa Selamat and detachment of badges. RBAF has been involved in the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission since 2008 which aligns with Brunei Darussalam’s support in upholding the United Nation’s three main pillars namely Peace and Security, Human Rights and Development.

The APICTA Awards 2022

Brunei Darussalam’s participation in the APICTA Awards is a continuous initiative by Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications; Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam, AITI and Infocom Federation Brunei, IFB to stimulate innovation and creativity in ICT. It is also aimed to develop the nation’s ICT sector by encouraging individuals, students and businesses to compete at the international level. Brunei Darussalam’s representatives to the 21st APICTA Awards recently received Four Awards.

 

165 teams from 16 member economies and 210 entry nominations competed in the 25 categories of APICTA Awards 2022. Brunei Darussalam was represented by 4 teams comprising winners, runners-up and participants of the BICTA 2022.

2nd ALLIED

Ministry of Education aspire to produce skilled, adaptive, and innovative people through the promotion of continuous learning, training, and reskilling to ensure the workforce remains relevant and adaptable to changing industry needs. Acting Permanent Secretary for Higher Education at Ministry of Education highlighted this at the 2nd Annual Lifelong Learning Industry Engagement Day, ALLIED, yesterday morning. The event took place at a hotel in Jalan Muara.

 

Doctor Chin Wei Keh also said Lifelong Learning Centre serves as a one-stop information Centre and a gateway for lifelong learning programmes offered by the Centre and various lifelong learning partners from both public and private sectors. To achieve the goal, it requires active cooperation and participation from all stakeholders from government agencies and private sectors.

 

The event continued with the keynote address by Professor Seamus O Tuama with the topic ‘A University-Industry Lifelong Learning Partnership Model’. The keynote among others touched on the purpose of partnership model on lifelong learning and skills in Ireland. Themed ‘Strengthening Lifelong Learning and Industry Cooperation: Now and Beyond’, more than 100 participants from various government and private sector organisations attended the event.

Funeral Management Workshop Closing Ceremony

Learning the funeral management is the demand of every Musli to do it in the right way. In this regard, 20 participants in the Funeral Management Workshop received their certificates yesterday afternoon at the Kampung Labu Mosque.

 

Certificates were presented by Awang Haji Asminan bin Awang Haji Chuchu, Acting Director of Mosque Affairs.  The two-day workshop demonstrated practical ways of bathing, covering, prayers and burial techniques.

Launching Of Food Development and Innovation

Darussalam Enterprise, DARe and Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB will be helping local Food and Beverages companies improve their products by leveraging on UTB’s Centre for Research on Agri-Food and Technology, CrAFT. The collaboration between DARe and UTB will see the launch of the Food Development and Innovation for Enterprise, FOODIE, an initiative that helps businesses improve their products. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between DARe and UTB CrAFT, yesterday afternoon.

 

Earlier, Awang Daniel Leong, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Brunei Economic Development Board, BEDB and DARe in his welcoming address expressed that Foodie was designed due to lack of technical knowledge in product research and development. Meanwhile, Dayang Doctor Syazana Abdullah Lim, Director of CrAFT in her speech hoped that F&B companies are open to and embrace new technologies such as Internet of Things, loT, to support their long-term growth through the programme.  The signing of MoU was witnessed by Datin Paduka Professor Doctor Dayang Hajah Zohrah bin Haji Sulaiman, Vice Chancellor of UTB.

Launching Of ‘SMS’ Brunei Prihatin

The ‘SMS’ Brunei Prihatin for the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans, DANA is to increase the sense of care and love among the community towards orphans. The project is part of an effort to diversify ways or mechanisms to enable the public to channel their donations specifically for orphans in the country.  Yesterday morning, the ‘SMS’ Brunei Prihatin for DANA 2022-2023 Launching Ceremony was held at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, in the capital.

 

The launching was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office as Chairman of DANA Board of Trustee. The function ran concurrently with the presentation of DANA donations to Orphans to Purchase School Supplies for the Academic Year 2023, to 1,435 orphan nationwide. The coupons were presented by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Home Affairs as member of DANA Board of Trustee to District Officers to be handed over to orphans via village heads. Starting this year, orphans registered through the National Welfare System, SKN will receive assistance from other agencies, to avoid duplication in giving similar donations, so that DANA can plan and organize new and effective activities and projects.

A Meeting with His Majesty King Charles III

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam held a Meeting with His Majesty King Charles the Third, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which was held at the Oak Room, Windsor Castle, United Kingdom. This marks the first formal meeting between His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and His Majesty King Charles the Third since His Majesty the King succeeded the Throne on 8th September 2022.

 

During the Meeting, His Majesty and His Majesty King Charles, among other things, touched on matters to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom including the welfare and well-being of citizens, alongside the opportunity for Their Majesties to further strengthen the bond and friendship between the Royal Families of both countries.
