14 New Cases, 1 New Cluster, 36 Cases Recovered

14 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country yesterday, bringing the total COVID-19 cases to 15,362. The Minister of Health stated the matter at a media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation. According to Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, 1 new cluster was also identified. Joining the media conference were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education. The media conference was held yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al ‘Afiah, Ministry of Health.

 

There are 8 additional new cases to 4 of the existing active clusters who are previously close contacts with several positive cases. Meanwhile, 1 new cluster was identified involving 3 cases. The new cluster is a private accommodation cluster. Three clusters were closed following no new detected cases for 28 days, namely 14125, KSAKB Construction staff house and HHY Construction. Therefore, current total active clusters stand at 97. 3 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infection.

 

36 cases have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 15,009, with 253 cases remaining active. Among the cases, one is in Category 5 and is being treated at the Intensive Care Unit, requiring assistance of artificial ventilation, as well as additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. Meanwhile, there is no case in Category 4. 1,406 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of lab tests carried out since January 2020 to 665,433.
