Philippine Fintech Industry Showcases Growth at Singapore Conference

Manila: In a significant step towards enhancing its presence in the global financial technology landscape, the Philippines showcased its growing fintech sector at the Singapore FinTech Festival 2023 (SFF). Trade Attache to Singapore, Carla Grepo, emphasized the importance of the Philippines’ participation, stating that it signals the country’s flourishing fintech industry and its readiness for investment. The event, held from November 15 to 17, attracted over 60,000 participants from more than 100 countries and served as a platform to discuss current trends and opportunities in the industry.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. addressed the gathering via hologram, highlighting the Philippines’ commitment to digital transformation in finance. Grepo noted the strong interest of Singaporean firms in investing in the Philippines, spurred by recent economic reforms and proactive international engagement by the President and his team. Key topics at the SFF included the role of generative AI as an economic driver, the restructuring of the financial system, and preparing for future technological and climate risks.
