MANILA: The Department of Health (DOH) has successfully vaccinated 646,840 children against measles as of April 10.
According to Philippines News Agency, this figure represents 47 percent of the eligible child population in the Philippines, which totals 1,381,540. The eligible children range from six months to nine years of age. Herbosa highlighted that the vaccination campaign experienced a temporary halt on April 10 due to the Eid al-Fitr celebration but resumed the following day. The campaign aims to end the measles outbreak in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) within four to six weeks, where a significant number of unvaccinated children have contributed to a measles case count of approximately 2,500 nationwide.
