Maguindanao Sur Capitol Workers Undergo Mandatory Drug Testing Initiative
Maguindanao Sur – In a proactive measure to maintain a drug-free workplace, Maguindanao Sur capitol workers were subject to an unexpected drug test this week, spearheaded by Governor Bai Mariam Sangki-Mangudadatu.
According to Philippines News Agency, the testing was conducted on Monday and Tuesday as part of Governor Mangudadatu’s ongoing commitment to uphold a drug-free environment within government facilities. The initiative saw 300 out of 476 permanent employees, including job orders and consultants, submitting urine samples on Monday, while the remainder complied the following day. The tests were administered by the Integrated Provincial Health Office in collaboration with the Philippine National Police.
Further details from the office revealed that none of the employees tested positive for illegal drug use. An employee, who only identified himself as Mustapha, expressed support for the initiative during an interview. He highlighted the importance of such measures for the well-being of both the employees and the clients they serve. The Governor’s office has announced that any individual testing positive would undergo a confirmatory test by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, followed by a mandatory rehabilitation program if the initial results are confirmed.
