The First Meeting of the 19th Legislative Council Session continued on the 8th day. The issue of human trafficking and drug smuggling using drug mules were among the first to gain the council's attention. Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, stressed that the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Narcotics Control Bureau as well as other security and enforcement agencies will continue to monitor the information and criminal activities trend.

The Narcotics Control Bureau, NCB and other enforcement agencies have taken the appropriate actions in raising awareness and providing guidance to school students, parents and guardians or the public on the modus operandi of international syndicates through briefings and promos on print and electronic media, distribution of pamphlets, exhibition of posters at strategic locations and others, With these efforts made via a Whole of Nation approach, the country has not recorded any cases related to local citizens being used as drug mules abroad specifically following social websites or cyber fraud.
