Immigration Officials Intercept Suspicious Vietnamese and Chinese Nationals at Manila Airport

Manila – Over the past two days, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) at Ninoy Aquino International Airport has intercepted several Vietnamese and Chinese nationals under suspicion of entering the Philippines for dubious purposes.

According to Philippines News Agency, sixteen Vietnamese were detained upon their arrival from Ho Chi Minh City on a Cebu Pacific flight on April 25. The primary inspectors raised concerns after the group could not specify their destinations within the country.

The BI noted that despite possessing all necessary documents, the behavior of the Vietnamese group indicated they were masquerading as tourists, with suspicions pointing to their potential involvement in illegal online gaming operations. Additionally, on the same day, five Chinese males arriving from Quanzhou City via Xiamen Air were denied entry at Terminal 1 in Parañaque City after failing to justify their stay in the Philippines.

The following day, immigration authorities continued their stringent checks, turning away three female Vietnamese and a Chinese man who arrived from Hanoi, citing similar suspicions about their intentions for visiting the country.
