Post: Flash Floods Claim 50 Lives in Afghanistan

KABUL - At least 50 people have died as a result of flash floods that struck parts of Afghanistan on Friday. The floods affected at least two provinces in the northern and northeastern regions of the country, causing substantial damage.

According to Philippines News Agency, head of the Natural Disaster Department in northern Baghlan province, the floods impacted the districts of Burka, Nahreen, and Central Baghlan, resulting in significant loss of life. "Floods in the districts of Burka, Nahreen, and Central Baghlan have claimed the lives of 50 people so far," Hamdard reported to Kabul-based Tolo News. Mohammad Akram Akbari, head of the Natural Disaster Department in northeastern Badakhshan province, noted that the floods also hit the districts of Tashkan, Yawan, and Tagab, causing considerable financial damage to the local population and blocking the main communication route from Tashkan district to the center of Badakhshan.
