MANILA: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) targets a 70 to 80 percent turnout among overseas voters for the 2025 midterm elections, facilitated by the new internet voting system.

According to Philippines News Agency, this anticipated increase, from a previous 38 percent in 2022, would be a significant achievement. The Online Voting and Counting System (OVCS), demonstrated at the Comelec office in Manila, enables Filipinos abroad to vote without needing to visit consulates or mail their ballots. In addition, Comelec has awarded the Secure Electronic Transmission Services project to a joint venture between iOne Resources, Inc. and Ardent Networks, Inc., ensuring secure and efficient election result transmission.
