Neon Light Charity Fair and Food Sales Fair

The Neon Light Charity Fair and Food Sales Fair 2022 are currently being held at Hadfa Garden in Tungku Link Rimba, Gadong. The event organised by N-One Event Management was launched on 30th August night.

The light exhibition and food sales are open from 10 in the morning to 10 at night, while the neon light fair starts from 6 in the evening to 10 at night. Tickets can be purchased on site, which are 5 dollars for adults, 3 dollars for kids aged 12 and below and senior citizens can enter free of charge. The proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the orphans.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Campaign Seminar

The Colorectal Cancer Awareness and Risk Education Team for Cancer Screening, Bru-CARES, has organised various events at the Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

The activities including the seminar aimed to educate the public on the signs and symptoms of pre-cancerous colorectal polyps and similar cancers, available screening methods, treatments for various stages of cancer as well as encouraging proactive screening for the cancer.

Brunei Darussalam Supports in Ensuring Oil Market Stabilization

Brunei Darussalam has been participating in the Declaration of Cooperation, DOC between OPEC and Non-OPEC Oil Producing Countries since its inception in December 2016, in recognizing the need for joint cooperation of the oil exporting countries to achieve a lasting stability in the oil market.

The country has also seen the positive impact of the DOC in ensuring oil market stability. In this regard, the country will support the DOC efforts in further stabilizing the oil market, particularly, in the face of the current period of uncertainty and volatility. Brunei Darussalam reaffirms its commitment to further strengthen the DOC cooperation in keeping the oil market stabilized.

Youth Bus Programme

Spiritual and religious activities, as well as community service activities are among the programmes participated by 40 youths from the four districts in the Youth Bus Programme 2022. The 5-day programme is one of the side programmes held to enliven the 17th National Youth Day Celebration.

Present during the Youth Bus Programme flag-off Ceremony was Awang Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary for Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The programme started at the Youth Centre, Bandar Seri Begawan and then proceeded to Belait District, Tutong District and ending in Temburong District.

Digital Economy Forum

His Majesty's Government, industry and society are closely inter-related in adopting the Digital Economy eco-system. This can become a success with a 'Whole of Nation' approach having full engagement and commitment from all players from government, industry and society. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications stated the matter during the Digital Economy Forum organised by the ASEAN and APEC Business Advisory Councils in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economy in partnership with Baiduri Bank, 31st August morning. Darussalam Enterprise, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, CSPS, Royal Brunei, Radio Television Brunei, Borneo Bulletin and Media Permata are also involved in the programme. Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha in his keynote speech also emphasised, through the implementation and delivery of Brunei Darussalam's digital transformation, the vision of the Digital Economy can be fully realised for economic progress, sustainability and social well-being.

The forum included presentations from Dayang Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii, Chair of APEC Business Advisory Council Brunei; Executive Director of LVK Group of Companies and Member of the Brunei Digital Economy Council and also from Joanna Bala, Google's Government Affairs and Public Policy Lead - Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.

Final of National Musabaqah Al-Quran Reading for Adults, 1st Night

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda stresses on the utmost importance of Al-Quranic values assimilation to be interpreted through life's routines in which the home is the earliest education institution in shaping individuality and educating Al-Qur'an generation. His Royal Highness made the sabda at the Opening of the final of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran Reading for Adults 1443 Hijrah / 2022. The ceremony took place at the International Convention Centre in Berakas, 30th August night.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as well as the Musabaqah Executive Committee members.

Also in attendance was His Royal Highness the Crown Prince's brother, His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malik.

The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

In his welcoming address, the Minister of Religious Affairs among other matters shared that this year's musabaqah has shown a higher participation in comparison to the previous year. It has also shown a higher quality of reading according to the competition's standards aside from seeing the emergence of qari and qariah among youths.

His Royal Highness in his sabda emphasises that aside from the government's continuous efforts in empowering Taranum Al-Quran skills, young qari and qariah should also strive to improve skills by diligently learning from masters.

His Royal Highness in the sabda added that students and youths are the successors who will take over a bigger role as assets and leaders of development as well as beneficiaries who will continue to uphold the eminence of Islam in Brunei Darussalam.

Six participants presented their readings on the 1st night. They were Awang Mohammad bin Ali, Dayang Hajah Nurfaezah binti Haji Emran, Awang Haji Nasrul Fakhri bin Haji Yahya, Dayangku Fauziah Nadhirah binti Pengiran Haji Jofri, Awang Ahmad Syuja'iee bin Begawan Mudim Haji Metassim and Dayang Hajah Nurul Akmalina binti Haji Yahya.

Youth Development Centre Convocation Ceremony

Support from every party through a nationwide approach is important to ensure that graduates are given the opportunity and are able to achieve the best. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports said the steps that have been and continue to be taken by the Youth Development Centre, PPB are welcomed in increasing the number of graduates achieving the desired objective of being 'marketable' to be employed, run their own company or have the ability to further their studies to a higher level. Speaking at the 2022 PPB Convocation Ceremony, 31st August morning, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad stated that PPB continues to expand the scope of services including upskilling and reskilling training and incubator facilities for PPB entrepreneur alumni as well as target groups in order to get the desired impact.

The Minister said this coincides with PPB's new vision namely 'Memperkasa Komuniti ke Arah Kecemerlangan' or 'Empowering the Community Towards Excellence', with the intention of strengthening PPB's role in lifelong learning initiatives in the country and at the same time, realising it as an inclusive Centre of Excellence.

113 graduates from 4 different courses received the certificates. Meanwhile, the Outstanding Trainee Award for January 2020 Session was given to Dayang Noorsarleenah binti Sarkawi, alias Suzihana, from the Fashion Design Technology Skills Course.

Press Conference on Trade, Culture, Food and Art Exhibition

In conjunction with the 30th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and Brunei Darussalam, the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam in the country will organise the Viet Nam-Brunei Trade, Culture, Food and Art Exhibition to further increase opportunities for cooperation between businesses from both sides, apart from promoting culture and people-to-people exchange between the two countries. The event will take place from 7th to 11th September 2022 at The Mall, Gadong.

At the Press Conference, His Excellency Tran Van Khoa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the country shared that 28 booths will participate in the exhibition representing 70 businesses from both countries. The exhibition will start at 10 in the morning to 10 at night.

Signing of BSJV Scholarship Scheme

The Brunei Shell Joint Venture, BSJV Companies held a Contract Signing Ceremony for Seven Exemplary Students under the BSJV Scholarship Scheme at Indera Samudra Grand Hall, Empire Brunei in Jerudong, 31st August morning. The BSJV Companies awarding the scholarships are Brunei Shell Petroleum Company, BSP, Brunei LNG and Brunei Shell Marketing, BSM.

Present to witness the signing was Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education and Agnete Johnsgaard-Lewis, Country Chair of Shell Companies in Brunei and Managing Director of BSP. 10 students received the "First Class Achiever 2021/2022" Awards.
