Spending more in conjunction with Aidilfitri is allowed as long as there is a limit. Although, various promotions are offered, but consumers need to be wise in controlling their spending so as not to make purchases beyond their means.

16 petrol stations will open and operate nationwide on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sendirian Berhad, BSM has informed that on the second day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, 31 petrol stations will operate and all 36 petrol stations nationwide will operate as usual on the third day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Meanwhile, on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, almost all petrol stations nationwide will extend their operating hours until 12 midnight.

On the first day of Hari Raya, seven petrol stations in Brunei Muara District will operate, including one petrol station on Brunei River, four petrol stations in Tutong District, four petrol stations in Belait District and one petrol station in Temburong District.

Kampung Jerudong 'A' Consultative Council, Mukim Sengkurong, yesterday late afternoon, held a Donation Presentation Ceremony for Orphans at Kampung Jerudong.

The donations to 20 orphans of Kampung Jerudong via drive-thru was handed over by Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Pahlawan Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jaafar bin Haji Abdul Aziz. The ceremony coincided with the reading of Surah Yasin and Tahlil for Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim.

The Konsortium Muallafpreneurs under the Muallaf Development Division, Muallaf Empowerment, Islamic Da'wah Centre held the Fastabiqul Khairat 7.0 Project yesterday.

Present was Awang Haji Abd Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of the Islamic Da'wah Centre. 15 selected muallafs or new converts from Brunei Muara District received vouchers worth ten dollars which can be used to purchase food for breaking the fast at the Konsortium Muallafpreneurs booth at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium Ramadhan Stalls. Such a project aims to provide opportunities for muallaf entrepreneurs to learn to do business while doing charitable deeds.

A BIMP-EAGA Senior Officials' Meeting, SOM / Strategic Planning Meeting SPM, held via video conferencing, provided some guidelines and recommendations among others to utilize social media platforms to improve coordination, support initiatives focusing on green and clean technology and sustainable environment.

Brunei Darussalam was represented by Doctor Dayang Hajah May Fa'ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary for Economy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The meeting also discussed further actions on the cooperation of the BIMP-EAGA Development Partners especially on the implementation of projects and initiatives with the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Korea. The 25th BIMP-EAGA Ministerial Meeting and Related Meetings will be held in November in Pontianak, Indonesia.

At the media conference, the Minister of Health also explained on the previous BruHealth application in which its use will be expanded in the future and not the other way around. The Minister of Health stated this in response to the question on the use of QR code scanning which will be stopped when entering premises in several neighbouring countries.

Yang Berhormat explained, in the BruHealth application, one of its function is contact tracing. Scanning is not only for that function but other functions in the future such as registration at the clinic. Apart from that, another function that is currently ongoing is the tele consult in which patients do not have to come to the hospital and only conduct a video conference with the doctor or specialist.

The practice of conducting tadarus ceremonies throughout Ramadhan is to seek multifold blessings from Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. Other than at mosques, suraus and religious halls, it is also in private homes.

In Tutong District, the Kampung Kiudang Mungkom New Converts Welfare Body, BASKIM also held house to house tadarus activities as BASKIM's annual activity in glorifying the holy month of Ramadhan.

The practise of tadarus Al-Quran from house to house aimed to provide guidance to the new converts in bringing themselves closer to Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala. It also plays a role in strengthening relations among the new converts and the village residents.

Several new converts expressed their gratitude and utilise such programmes as opportunities to improve and refine the quality of Al-Quran reading.

The delegation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce in the country yesterday afternoon held the reading of Yassin and Tahlil specifically for the late parents and son of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Almarhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit and Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji Abdul ‘Abdul ‘Azim. The delegation was led by Awang Nazeer Ahamed, President of the Indian Chamber of Commerce. Over 20 individuals joined the delegation.

The Brunei Darussalam Scout Association also organised the Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony at the Association’s Religious Hall, yesterday afternoon.

Present was Haji Awang Badar bin Haji Ali, Chief Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam Scout Association. The annual event aimed to enculture the reading of Al-Quran among scout members as well as strengthens goodwill among members.

The function coincided with the donations presentation to 23 orphans among the scout members in the four districts. It aims to alleviate the burden and provide joy to the orphans in celebrating the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
