TJP Labs Completes Multi-Million Dollar Investment Round to Continue Global Expansion into Modern Oral Nicotine Manufacturing

PICKERING, Ontario, Aug. 31, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — TJP Labs Inc. (“TJP Labs”), one of North America’s leading full-service contract manufacturers of next-generation nicotine products, announced its launch of Canada’s first modern oral nicotine contract manufacturing facility for buccal nicotine pouches. TJP Labs will provide international brands (and when authorized for sale in Canada, domestic brands) contract manufacturing capacity to service the rapidly expanding category. Production of these pouches is expected to commence in the first calendar quarter of 2022.

Completing its corporate restructuring, TJP Labs has secured a multi-million dollar investment from the founders and key members of the early management team of KIK Custom Products, founded in 1993. Under their leadership, KIK Custom Products expanded from a single product manufacturer in one plant north of Toronto, Ontario to a global network with substantial positions in the multi-billion dollar household, pool and automotive categories.

This first of its kind Centre of Excellence in Canada’s next-generation buccal nicotine pouch manufacturing will be located in Pickering, Ontario. Spread over a 30,000 sq ft expansive campus, the facility will include world-class, state-of-the-art European G.D S.p.A nicotine pouch manufacturing machinery. The new facility will have high-speed pouch filling and packaging rebuild lines, internal precision x-rays for automated purity control and auto weighing and photography to ensure the highest standards of consumer safety and product efficacy available. Phase 1 is expected to provide TJP Labs the capacity to produce over 36 million pouches per month and Phase 2 should double that capacity. Phase 1 is expected to be completed by December 2021 and Phase 2 by Q4 2022.

Modern Oral Nicotine is the latest growth category within next-generation nicotine products. Popularly known as nicotine “pouches,” these products have harm reduction potential for reducing the disease and death burden from combustible tobacco-related illness globally.

Speaking on the announcement, David Richmond-Peck, CEO of TJP Labs, said:

“The restructuring process and investment has enabled TJP Labs to optimize our business and strengthen our balance sheet to position us for long-term growth. Our team set out on our mission of engineering harm reduction solutions for a global network of customers seven years ago when my mother passed away from a combustible tobacco-related illness. The launch of this facility sets the foundation of our goal to build a network of international facilities for this rapidly growing category. We are proud that we will be able to provide manufacturing solutions to companies that give adult consumers a less harmful alternative to combustible tobacco products. Our multiple licenses, including Health Canada site license, FDA FEI, ISO 9001:2015, HACCP and cGMP speak to the rigorous standards that we uphold and look forward to serving companies globally.”

Launching Of ASEAN Youth Development Index Phase II

Empowering youths is a top priority for Brunei Darussalam. The launching of the Report of ASEAN Youth Development Index Phase Two does not only underscore Brunei Darussalam’s commitment to parallel every aspect of youth development with ASEAN community building efforts, it is also a recognition that their voice and views truly matter in the socio-economic development of ASEAN region.

This was stated by Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary for Administration, Finance and Estate at the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports during the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting, AMMY, on Youth held via video conference. Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal said the Report, exploring the fifth Domain of Awareness, Values, and Identity, has not only given an even more comprehensive picture of ASEAN youth, but for the first time, it has also provided a vital understanding of the intangible connection between Brunei’s youth and ASEAN.

Youth is an important agenda of the population in any country and are in need of attention as they are both our current and future leaders and the catalyst for economic, social and cultural development. In order to facilitate effective youth development, there is a need for more evidence-based policies on youth development. The AMMY launched the First Phase of Youth Development Index (YDI) in 2017 covered four domains which are education, health and well-being, employment and opportunities and participation and engagement. The ASEAN Youth Development Index Phase II focusing on the Fifth Domain: Understanding How Young People See ASEAN: Awareness, Values and Identity. The National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Is Hoped To Be Continued

The Ministry of Health is working with the relevant parties to ensure that the supply of COVID-19 vaccine will not be delayed for long. This is to ensure that the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 can be continued.

According to the Minister of Health, the problem derived from the access to vaccine, as faced by other countries. Therefore, the Ministry of Health is working its best to encounter such problem. The National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19 received an overwhelming respond with 10 thousand people receiving their injection in a day.

First Dose Vaccine Distribution Postponed

The Minister of Health also informed that the Second Phase of the Mahad COVID-19 Holding Area in Tutong will start accepting Category 2 patients starting today, Wednesday, 1st of September. The new facility can accommodate up to 338 patients and jointly operated by the Ministry of Health and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. Meanwhile, the Minister of Health also informed the public that starting today, Wednesday, 1st of September until a date that will be announced later, all vaccinations centres nationwide will not be able to provide the COVID-19 vaccination services to anyone who have booked for the first dose.

The postponement is due to the supply of COVID-19 vaccine that has decreased rapidly and unexpectedly. The Ministry of Health is currently working to get the supply of vaccines as soon as possible as the provision of the COVID-19 vaccine for the citizens and residents of Brunei Darussalam is a priority and therefore, the Ministry apologizes for any inconvenience that may arise as a result of this matter. However, the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will still and only be provided to the elderly, differently- abled, and pregnant women where they can get the first dose injections from any vaccination centres on a walk-in basis. However, it should be noted that the supply of vaccines for this group is limited. Meanwhile, the provision of vaccine injections will continue for those who have booked for the second dose for which the supply of vaccines for those who need the second dose are adequate. Therefore, members of the public who have already booked for the first dose will be re-scheduled to get a new booking slot when the new vaccine supply arrives.
