Mualaf Guidance Class Visit

 

The Temburong District has a variety of unique village products and has the potential to be developed as One Village One Product. Yesterday morning, a delegation of 21 people from the Kampung Batang Mitus Mualaf Guidance Class visited the Temburong district.

 

The delegation watched the making of handicraft such as ‘pemarang’ and other products at the Kampung Semabat Religious Hall in Mukim Bokok. They also viewed a demonstration of salted duck egg processing, exhibition as well as traditional food organized by the Women’s Bureau of the Kampung Puni Consultative Council.

WAGGGS World Conference

 

Towards policy formulation and electing the new World Board Members of The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts, WAGGGS as well as discussing and approving motions proposed by full members, the association last night organised the WAGGGS World Conference. The 37th conference was held virtually.

 

Heading Brunei Darussalam’s delegation was, Dayang Hajah Siti Hafsah binti Haji Abdul Halim, Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam. Among the proposals which received significant attention are increasing the number of young women under 30 years old in administration and policy-making levels as well as in skills development training. Among the main objectives of the conference is to formulate strategies for the future as well as formulate plans that are appropriate to the needs and priorities of the association’s members. The Girl Guides Association of Brunei Darussalam is a full member of WAGGGS.

Novel Adaptation Workshop Closing Ceremony

 

 

In the creative industry, foreign countries have successfully adapted their literary works into new media such as staging, screenplay as well as film. Therefore, it provided platforms for the local creative industry especially art activists to be active. Speaking during the Closing Ceremony of the Novel Adaptation to Stage Drama Script Workshop, Doctor Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday afternoon explained that the Language and Literature Bureau has a variety of literary works which have the potential to be adapted. The workshop, for example, used a local novel, titled ‘Mahkota Yang Berdarah’ by Yura Halim to be used as the practical material for the participants.

 

The 4 -day workshop introduced participants to two methods which is understanding the novel and facilitating the writing of stage drama scripts. The workshop is hoped to produce writer’s ideologies in various literary genres as well as participating in the Novel Adaptation to Stage Drama Script Contest which was opened since the 30th of June.

ASEAN Trade Facilitation Joint Consultative Committee Meeting

The status of the ASEAN Work Program on Trade Facilitation which includes the latest status of the Non-Tariff Measures Cost Effectiveness Toolkit, NTM Toolkit which is one of Brunei Darussalam’s Priority Economic Deliverables for this year was discussed during the 21st ASEAN Trade Facilitation Joint Consultative Committee Meeting, ATFJCC. The meeting held on the 26th and 28th July 2021, via video conferencing at the International Convention Centre, ICC, Berakas was chaired by Dr. Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary for Economy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, as the Chair of ATFJCC for 2021.

 

Following the 20th ATF-JCC meeting held in May 2021, the meeting also discussed the progress on the Implementation Plan of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, A-C-R-F; updates on the 2021 ASEAN Trade Facilitation Work Programme and Priorities; proposed ASEAN Trade Facilitation Work Programme and Priorities for 2022; expansion of the list of essential goods for the Memorandum Of Understanding On The Implementation Of Non-Tariff Measures On Essential Goods Under The Hanoi Plan Of Action On Strengthening ASEAN Economic Cooperation And Supply Chain Connectivity In Response To The COVID-19 Pandemic; and the Mid-Term Review of AEC 2025. Also held were consultations with external parties to discuss areas for technical cooperation and assistance. Among the developments is the publication of the ASEAN Seamless Trade Facilitation Indicators, ASTFII Baseline Study. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the ASEAN Member States, Chairpersons or representatives of the relevant ASEAN sectoral bodies as well as external parties.

Flag Hoisting Extended Until 4 August 2021

The hoisting of the Brunei Darussalam National Flag in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 75th birthday celebration is extended until the 4th of August 2021.

 

In this regard, the National Committee for the 75th Royal Birthday celebration informed that Pengirans and those bestowed with titles are required to hoist their personal flags and the public to raise the national flags until the 4th of August 2021.

‘Hikmat Bersatu VI’ Exercise

 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali  Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning witnessed the Hikmat Bersatu VI Exercise carried out by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF. The Exercise specifically focuses on non-traditional security threats to evaluate military response and capabilities in conducting tactical and operational duties aside from focusing on ‘Security, Stabilisation and Counter Insurgency, or in brief, COIN. Also in attendance was His Majesty’s son, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office.

 

Upon arriving at Bolkiah Garrison, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Second Minister of Defence and Major General Udara Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sahat, Commander of the RBAF. His Majesty was then introduced to the Heads of the exercise’s organising team. At the Joint Operations Centre’s Briefing Room, His Majesty was briefed on the exercise operation by Brigadier General Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd Kadir, RBAF Joint Force Commander. The exercise began last Monday involving several areas in the four districts including rivers and waters of Brunei.

 

From Bolkiah Garrison, His Majesty then proceeded to Penanjong Garrison to witness the ‘Urban Operation’ Exercise at the ‘Fighting in Built up Areas’, FIBUA Village. Upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by Colonel Udara Haji Haszahaidi bin Haji Ahmad Daud, Commandant of the Training Institute RBAF.

 

His Majesty was greeted upon arrival at FIBUA Village by Colonel Azman bin Haji Bangkol, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Land Force. A briefing on the ‘Urban Operation’ Exercise was presented by Lieutenant Colonel Haji Alimin bin Haji Subohi, Commanding Officer of Third Battalion, Royal Brunei Land Force.

 

The Exercise demonstrated the Royal Brunei Land Force, RBAF’S Special Force Regiment and British Forces Brunei’s ability to conduct combined operations in a range of complex environments with a focus on military contributions in addressing non-traditional security threats.

 

The exercise also provided comprehensive training to RBAF personnel through realistic contemporary scenarios.

 

From Penanjong Garrison, His Majesty proceeded to the waters of Brunei to witness a maritime interdiction operation on board KDB Daruttaqwa. His Majesty was greeted upon arrival by Captain Khairil Haji Abdul Rahman, Fleet Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy.

 

His Majesty witnessed a hostage rescue operation on a hijacked ship. The rescue team included, His majesty’s son, His Royal Highness 920 Major Udara Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

 

After witnessing the hostage rescue operation, His Majesty proceeded to the Royal Brunei Navy Base. Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Captain Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin bin Matserudin, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy.

 

The Hikmat Bersatu Enam Exercise is hoped to further strengthen the RBAF’s preparedness to uphold and carry out the responsibility of defending the country’s peace, prosperity and sovereignty.

 

His Majesty’s presence for the Hikmat Bersatu Enam Exercise ended at the Royal Brunei Navy Officers Mess for a luncheon. Also in attendance were His Majesty’s sons, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Royal Highness 920 Major Udara Prince ‘Abdul Mateen.

 

The Hikmat Bersatu Enam Exercise aims to test and validate the RBAF’s actions from the operational and tactical levels in more detail the implementation plan in response to various scenarios.

 

The exercise which involves the Royal Brunei Police Force, the Gurkha Reserve Unit, and Second battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles ends this Saturday.

ITA – Italia Trasporto Aereo Shareholders’ Meeting Approves Capital Increase of € 700 Million

Ops Langis JIPK 87/2021

In Belait District, 2 male foreigners who hold the position of Domestic Helper were apprehended in another Operasi Langis conducted yesterday morning at the Panaga National Housing Scheme.

 

The foreigners were detained for contravening Regulation 15-2 and 3 of the Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17, and were summoned to the Law Enforcement Division, Department of Immigration and National Registration in Kuala Belait for further investigation and action.

Operasi Langis JIPK 86/2021

A male foreigner was detained under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 for overstaying in the country after his Immigration pass had expired.

 

The foreigner was detained during Operasi Langis targeting a foreign worker’s accommodation in Mukim Kilanas yesterday morning. The operation involved 4 personnel from the Law Enforcement Division of the Department of Immigration and National Registration. The man was brought to the department’s Law Enforcement headquarters for further investigation.

Refining Prayer Workshop

Royal Brunei Airlines, RB organised a workshop on refining prayer yesterday afternoon to provide guidance and understanding on the principles of prayer and refining prayer. The course took place at RB Campus in Berakas.

 

90 RB staff took part in the 2-day course, guided by Awang Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak, co-founder of Al-Minhaaj Centre. The course is part of RB’s religious activities in efforts to propagate dakwah among the RB staff.
