Three Weather Systems to Bring Rain Showers Across Visayas and Most of Luzon, PAGASA Reports

Manila — Most areas in Luzon are expected to experience rain showers owing to three distinct weather systems, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the weather bureau is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) situated 470 km east of Virac, Catanduanes. Del Mundo stated that the LPA has a “slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours” and may likely head towards the Bicol region where it is expected to dissipate.

On Tuesday, the trough of the LPA, along with the shear line, will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Visayas, Bicol, Mimaropa, Quezon, and Aurora. PAGASA warns that moderate to heavy rains in these areas may result in flash floods or landslides. Additionally, the northeast monsoon is forecasted to bring light rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela, and isolated light rains over the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will continue to see isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms, PAGASA added. As for sea and wind conditions, moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are anticipated across Luzon, while the Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.

The report serves as a timely advisory for residents in affected regions to take necessary precautions against potential weather hazards, including flash floods and landslides.
