Bandar seri begawan: The ‘Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat’ programme was recently held to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the 35th Teachers’ Day Celebration Walkathon. The event took place at the historic Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, bringing together community members in an early morning gathering on 19th October. Central to the programme was a talk titled “The Mosque is a Symbol of National Sovereignty,” highlighting the multifaceted role of mosques as not only places of worship but also as comprehensive community centers and symbols of national pride.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the programme underscored the mosque’s vital function in uniting the ummah, disseminating knowledge, and fostering community development. It emphasized the importance of mosques in nurturing a love for these sacred spaces as houses of Allah, while also promoting the spirit of “Negara Zikir” and “Negara Berkat.” By integrating Islamic teachings into everyday life, the initiative aims to enhance the nation’s wellbeing and prosperity, rooted firmly in Islamic values.
