An exhibition in conjunction with the 26th Teachers Day showcased teacher’s achievements and contributions for the students success in various levels covering the latest programmes and a number of successes either at the national, regional and international levels. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam viewed the exhibition at the Lobby of the International Convention Centre in Berakas.
Before viewing the exhibition, His Majesty watched a choral speaking performance from the students of Al-Falaah Primary School. The exhibition showcased a number of segments. Among those of interest was an excerpt of the Syair Laila Hasrat written by Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien. The Brunei Darussalam Teachers day celebration is celebrated every 23rd of September, in conjunction with the birthday anniversary of Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien in commemoration of his deeds towards the progress of education in the country.
The Mutiara Bangsa Exhibition also included the successes obtained by students from the efforts and dedication of teachers such as the involvement of students of exceptional abilities in several overseas competitions, among them the 2015 Summer Special Olympic Games in Los Angeles, California and the Global IT Challenge for Youths with Exceptional Abilities 2015 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Apart from that, the involvement of the Institute Brunei Technical Education, IBTE and Higher Education Institutions was also showcased. It highlighted the success of students in the ASEAN skills 2014 in Hanoi, The Student Leadership Programme in Cambodia in 2014 and in Hong Kong in 2015, as well as the involvement in the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, Digista Teen 2015.
The Higher Education Institutions Exhibition comprising Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College and Politeknik Brunei highlighted academic officers and teachers involved in the achievement for the upgrading of education and research at the higher education level.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah also exhibited several projects and activities directed towards efforts to improve and develop the field of education through the provision of education and research assistance and organising knowledge programmes as well as provision of education infrastructures and services.
Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, BIBD showcased their Advocating Life-Long Learning For an Aspiring Future or BIBD ALAF, which supports the development and progress of students. The programme provides support for the development and progress of students aside from helping them to build self-confidence and enhancing communication skills.
His Majesty’s presence is invaluable and certainly boosts the teachers’ spirits to be more diligent in their efforts to contribute to the progress of education in the country. His Majesty’s leadership to see the young generation excel in the field of education, the strong implementation of the national education policy, not only can produce a needed human capital, but also successfully unite the citizens and residents in a strong union with a core of the Malay Islamic Monarchy.
