Taiwanese National Facing Deportation for Telecom Fraud, BI Reports

Manila – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has reported that a Taiwanese national wanted for telecommunications fraud in Taipei is awaiting deportation following his arrest in Pasay City.

According to Philippines News Agency, Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco stated that 40-year-old Shan Yu-Hsuan was apprehended on November 17 along F.B. Harrison St., based on a mission order issued by the BI chief at the Taiwanese government’s request. Shan, currently detained at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, is awaiting summary deportation and will be blacklisted to prevent re-entry into the Philippines. His overstaying status was confirmed, having last entered the country in October 2019. Taiwanese authorities indicated that Shan was involved in running a call center in Taiwan that engaged in voice phishing, defrauding victims primarily abroad. In a separate incident, the BI also barred entry to two convicted American pedophiles who attempted to enter the Philippines via the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Neil Eugene Graves and Stuart Chase Dingman, who arrived from Seoul, were denied entry due to their status as registered sex offenders, stemming from convictions on sexual offenses in the United States. Both individuals were promptly sent back to Incheon on a Korean Air flight. Philippine immigration laws restrict entry to foreign nationals with prior convictions of crimes involving moral turpitude.
